My 357 is my home defense gun and I can shoot out the X at around 8 yds. I'm lucky tho bc I inherited thousands of 357 rounds from my gpa, so I can shoot more.

The 38/357 game is a lot of fun. Did that to a friend with my 686 2.5" barrel with cheapo 38s and full load JHP carry 357s.
