Nashville, Tennessee — On Monday, October 9, 2023, at 8:20 p.m., Metro Nashville Police were called to a home on Split Oak Trail, and discovered 30-year-old Joshua Kersey, holding a man at knifepoint. Police said the victim lived at the home, along with Kersey’s mom, sister and four children. Kersey’s mother dialed 911. Police tried to negotiate with Kersey for about 40 minutes. Officers then heard a struggle and a loud noise in the bedroom. Officer Ranseen kicked the door open and gave Kersey a command to put the knife down. Authorities said Kersey did not comply and Officer Ranseen shot once and killed Kersey. The family members, including Kersey’s mother, sister, and four children, all left the home before officers entered.

Idk I saw the knife laying on the mattress soon as the door was kicked open and no weapon in the suspects hand. An think he could of just been taking into custody. I’m also not LE nor trained. Just giving my thoughts on what I saw in slow motion and rewatching it. No way am I sticking up for this kid. The kid got what he was asking for. That simple!

My name is Dave and I absolutely have the highest level of respect for law enforcement even when I watch the other channels such as civil rights Auditors that makes cops look really stupid. Personally I work construction and I have days that I don't have the mental faculties to think as fast as these officers are seen in this video and because of this ability and talent when time really matters, is why I will always forgive the mistakes that law enforcement officers make as seen in most of the other stupid channels.
