Brooklyn, NY —  On Thursday, April 13, 2023, at approximately 1:13 p.m., NYPD Officer Antidormi and Officer Prisco responded to 330 Lewis Avenue, apartment 1D, Brooklyn, for a 911 call of a burglary inside of apartment 1D at that location. Upon arrival, the officers entered the building and knocked on the door of apartment 1D in order to investigate the 911 call. 78-year-old Ceasar Robinson answered the door to the apartment in possession of a firearm in his left hand and pointed it at the officers. As a result, Officer Antidormi discharged four shots from his service firearm and Officer Prisco discharged three shots from his service firearm. Robinson was struck by the gunfire and fell to the ground. He was taken from the scene via ambulance to Woodhull Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

Thats very sad. I don't think there was any criminal intent, perhaps he was mentally not there. And the hood he lives in doesn't look like the nicest. RIP. But im glad the officers weren't hurt.

For those interested, local media reported the gentleman lived there. His nephew called in that someone was trying to break into the apartment. Most coverage is either for subscribers only, or posted by anti-cop hate groups, so I didn't get much information. The police failure to announce themselves may or may not have made sense. For example, they would have tried to call the nephew back before making entry, and might have been told it's all resolved. They definitely didn't expect an armed response. Standing in front of doors yelling, "Police!" when you think a burglary is underway is a sure way to get yourself shot.
Don't point guns at peoples. It's rude and dangerous.
