[Note: There are four separate explosions in this video.]

Here is something a bit different. In this video (two videos, really) we travel back to the year 2012, where on April 22 in Yorba Linda, California an underground electrical vault exploded, cutting power to over 2,000 area residents and leaving two firefighters with minor injuries.

Incredibly, the first blast was both witnessed by a police officer and captured on his dash camera. But, as shown in this video, the explosions were only just getting started when the first officer rolled up on scene. Not long thereafter, Captain David Wolf of Orange County Fire Authority was thrown nearly ten feet into nearby bushes by a subsequent blast, regaining consciousness as he was being dragged to safety by a fellow firefighter.

Wolf and another firefighter suffered minor burns, lacerations, and bruises, both making complete recoveries after an incident that could have been far worse. Arc flash is exactly as nasty as it looks.

  1. Wow it's always amazing how common sense seams to elude people. They know the electricity is still on and yet the cops and firefighters go right up and stand over it.

  2. Glad no one was seriously injured. Arc flash is no joke and those are most likely higher utility distribution voltages. even 120 V grounding out to a panel can be really dangerous especially if it’s the main feeders and no breaker

  3. Since it was electrical fire why did they even went that close and besides right over the hole that was a stupid move. Hope he wasn’t hurt bad.

  4. I really get the impression that all of these guys ignored training the way they casually walked up on an electrical short like that. Even I know how dangerous that crap is.

  5. When this happens Never never never come close, that's the first lesson !!!! And that's no after bullshit,, just dont come close, elektricity can be like handgranate

  7. May God provide intellectual, physical and spiritual power and strength to the fire fighter department team-the fire fighter officers, vehicle maintenance group, call center team n overall team. May God empower and bless you all and ur family for the noble work of saving lives while risking one's life and forest fire safety through fire helicopters. Salute to every firefighter!! Amen!!……..
