Pomona, California — On Sunday, June 9, 2024, at approximately 7:18 pm, Pomona Police officers responded to the 200 block of Las Brisas Circle after receiving a report of a husband, 60-year-old Kenneth Genardini, discharging a firearm inside his residence after a verbal dispute with his wife. The suspect left the residence in his vehicle and collided with an uninvolved motorist at Holt Ave. and White Ave. Police arrived on the scene shortly after to negotiate the suspect’s surrender.
However, an officer-involved shooting occurred when the suspect reached for a firearm from inside his vehicle, and pointed it at officers. Officers used our armored SWAT vehicle (bearcat) to safely remove the uninvolved motorist from the scene. Shortly after the incident, officers contacted the uninvolved motorist and, with assistance from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, provided medical attention. The suspect was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover. After the shooting, officers rendered medical aid and began an assessment of the suspect’s injuries.
