On 4/5/19 Real World Police published extensive coverage of the January 23, 2019 arrest of former ‘Deadliest Catch’ star Jake Harris following a very-slow-speed pursuit as Harris eluded a park ranger in his 1968 Cortez motorhome.

Our April coverage included audio of radio and telephone conversations, photographs, and written reports but notably absent was footage of the pursuit and arrest. There was good reason for the absence of video at the time: the law. Washington state law does not allow for the release of video recordings of an incident until the final disposition of active criminal or civil litigation that arose from the incident [see RCW 9.73.090(1)(c) and RCW 42.56.070(1)].

That litigation has since come to a close, and as promised in the original video, today Real World Police brings you the exclusive footage of Harris’s pursuit and arrest, as well as his rather entertaining commentary on the Washington State Patrol and “Ranger Rick” during transport. Notably, after a warrant was obtained for Harris’s blood it took three hospital phlebotomists nine attempts before a successful draw was possible – from the top of his foot. (Also of note: the application for a search warrant was initially denied by the reviewing judge.)

The former Cornelia Marie deckhand was sentenced to 18 months behind bars in Skagit County, Washington, convicted of felony DUI — fourth DUI is a felony in Washington — and possession of heroin with intent to deliver or manufacture. Much more detail on the case against Harris is in the video, though it should be noted that the charges relating to the stolen firearms were dropped.

The entire case file – including dozens of photos and audio – is available on Patreon. All Real World Police supporters on Patreon had early access to this video. Thank you!

*Particularly hilarious in this video is the exchange between 18:39 and 21:14. (For the exceptionally-strapped-for-time, 20:42 – 21:14.)

  1. Ive been there..I still think its a miracle that any of us addicts survive. Godspeed Jake Harris. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. It's bad to have an addiction trying to fuel your every move of every single day of your life then it gets compounded by officers trying to put the worst offenses with the harshest penalties heaped upon you it feels like it never gets better or ever can/will…unless you can somehow get clean time in and somehow hopefully get away from those folks you were fooling with while doing your addiction otherwise it almost never ends or gets better folks need help not jails or sentences with fines to pay most have kids needing helped that's been without because of the addiction it's really hard and I hope he makes it like all others in the life of addiction it's tuff son I know all too well

  3. Oh no… I can't believe this. I really liked Jake and come to find out he's doing drugs? And using the excuse that its because his Dad died? My wife my mother and my dad all died a few months from each other in 2001. But I didn't feel sorry for myself and turn to alcohol or drugs. Kids nowadays are just to weak mentally. Its too bad, I really thought Jake had a great future.

  4. I feel like this kid killed his dad with his addiction, ol Phil was so stressed over his dipshit son. At least Josh is making him proud.

  5. I have a hard time feeling bad for this guy. He's made all these decisions himself I don't care about his bad upbringing. He could and can change anytime he wants but chooses the easiest path every time. What state or law allows a convicted druggie to legally own a firearm?

  6. Sounds like he is either drunk or high, probably both… Certainly has a mouth on him…Jake, you gotta grow up one day son…Respect the officers, they might have saved your life in the end…You are outta control young lad…stop thinking you are such a badass cuz you're snot… hopefully this arrest will straighten out your life…

  7. He sure the hell doesn't sound intoxicated or under the influence. Wasnt speeding. Didn't stumble out of the van, isnt stuttering or slurring…..love the judgement from all u people just because he USED to use drugs…..

  8. That's probably what he's living in it's sad but most people that ride on daddy's coattail and get hooked on drug's loose everything

  9. Couldn't figure out why he looked so different in this video, then realized I was thinking of Jake Anderson 🤣

  10. His dad enabled him. His brother enabled him. After reading that notebook,, it seems Josh is still enableding him.. I am flying to Australia now & had 12 more hrs to kill, so I watched this…
He isn't going to quit drugs unless he wants to. There is only so many xs you can relapse before you say..I never want to wake up & feel that way.
No one can make a human stop, they have to plan their own End Game.
Inherently the cops were VERY NICE to him. He was acting like a spoiled Junkie. If he was in Chicago where I grew up or NY/CA which I live now, they couldn't have aired this.
He acts like everyone owes him smtn.
I hope when he finally decides to get clean, he will feel embarrassed & realize how he treated his family.
Soon as he gets out of jail, if he doesn't seek help, he will go back to using. You don't see many 60 y/o heroin addicts.
Josh needs to step away from him & let him go. I hope one day he doesn't recognize this zombie.

  11. His life was spiraling out of control even before Captain Phil died. In an episode where he admitted he was an addicted, I think in that same episode Captain Phil suffered the deadly stroke that killed him.

Remember when the Captain (can't remember his name) called the police on him because he had drugs on the boat.

    I think he's in prison today – 04/28/21.

  12. Honestly Phil departed this world at the worst time for Jake. Just as he was hitting rock bottom and gonna reach out his dad and mentor were taken away from him

  13. Add him to the long list of junkies from Deadliest Catch to throw it all away just to get high. He'll have a short life.
