I would tell that guy that I understand his pain and yes, love does hurt. Years ago I was head over heels for a guy named Daniel and he lied to me and he told me that he already had a girlfriend. It broke my heart in shattered pieces and I remember I just cried and cried. My broken heart was overwhelming. It took me a whole year to get over him, but I did eventually and moved on. I was too young and naive to know any better, but now that I look back on it now, the fact that Daniel lied to me should have raised some red flags. Nowadays I don't believe that Daniel was ever worthy of my love. So I kind of feel sorry for that guy, because I can hear the emotional pain in his voice. Yes, love does hurt, especially when you are rejected and it is not reciprocated.
