San Antonio Texas — On November 27, 2023, at around 1:00 a.m., two San Antonio police officers riding in the same marked patrol vehicle were traveling along 4400 block of West Commerce Street near Southwest 29th Street. the vehicle slowed down and the suspect in the passenger seat jumped out. One officer chased the suspect on foot while yelling commands. The second officer driving the patrol vehicle drove toward the suspect and quickly got out of the vehicle. The suspect continued to run, then turned toward the officers and pointed a gun in their direction. One of the officers yelled out when he observed the gun and both officers fired several rounds at the suspect, striking him. The suspect, later identified as 45-year-old Steven Lopez, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured. A loaded handgun was recovered near the suspect.
