@CopWatch was in Santa Fe, NM – A presser was held by the Santa Fe County Sheriff, Adan Mendoza and the Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies this morning. Officials gave an update to the gathered worldwide media outlets about the latest details of the case.
Alec Baldwin fired what we now know was an actual western style .45 caliber Long Colt revolver loaded with what is believed to be a “live” round at the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins killing her and injuring the movies director Joel Souza who was standing directly behind her. Baldwin believed the gun to be a “cold gun” incapable of injuring anyone. The gun was handed to Baldwin by the assistant director of the movie Dave Halls. A cart with three guns on it was in reach of Baldwin and Halls and it had been prepared by the movies armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.
The movie set of this western movie named “Rust” had been swirling in rumors of unsafe conditions leading up to the incident.
The DA stated “If the facts and evidence, and law, support charges, then I will initiate prosecution at that time.” When asked if Alec Baldwin would face any charges she said “All options are on the table”.

How Baldwin, the armorer, and that assistant director aren't ALL in jail for negligent handling of a firearm and negligent homicide is a true testament to how messed up our justice system truly is. Why the hell does an actual gun that can fire live rounds even need to be used on a movie set? Aliens can invade the planet in Marvel movies using CGI, but we still have to accept the fact that Hollywood special effects and props departments and personnel are not able to make prop guns that can in no way fire a live round? Hollywood magic really needs to step up and solve this problem.

I will save everybody the time in watching this and summarize: "There was an accident and we are investigating" That is all.
Baldwin is ultimately responsible. He broke the FIRST and MOST IMPORTANT firearm rule that exists. He pointed a firearm at a person and pulled the trigger. I don't give a rats ass whether it is loaded/unloaded/told it was safe. He didn't check the weapon himself and if he didn't know how he should have NEVER had a REAL gun in his hands. He is ultimately and finally responsible. No matter what anyone else did, if he hadn't broken the FIRST rule of firearms she would still be alive. Baldwin pointing this firearm at a person and pulling the trigger is the ONLY crime that was committed. All else is civil negligence.
Multiple complete idiots and failures all coming together at the same time resulting in an "accidental negligent homocide." It would take about 30 seconds max to check a revolver and ensure it was loaded with blanks. Even if I was handed a gun someone said was cold, I would take the 30 seconds to check it. 1. Shouldn't have been loaded with live. 2. Should have been checked and verified by atleast 2 people. 3. The shooter could have made a final check. 4. Should not point weapon directly at someone and pull trigger even with blanks. (If you can't practice drawing without pulling trigger don't do it towards people). Sad and preventable tragedy indeed. 5. There should not be live rounds on set ever. Guns can be tested with live rounds away from set if testing is deemed necessary. Blanks and live rounds should never be stored in close proximity.
With all his fame he will get away with it and someone else will be charge for it.
So who is charged with negligent homicide? If it were normal people someone would be charged with something.
Do not turn over the investigation to the FBI. Please keep this within the state.

I just saw a cop on the TV series SWAT tell a woman to put down her camera. That's a bad example for a TV show to set.
When this tragic news was first reported my wife asked me how difficult it would have been to see if the gun was empty. I explained the differences between a revolver ( used on the set ) and a semi-automatic pistol. I then took a revolver out of my gun safe, and flipped the cylinder open so she could see the 6 empty slots. She was surprised and said " is that all it took to see if it is was empty or not?" There was no excuse for this accident to occur.

An airplane crashes do to one small plastic clip, billions of money get spent overhauling every plane. people die on set by loaded guns on set often, nothing is done. how about requiring a tiny weld spot in the barrel to block the barrel. or, require specific magazines and blank round size that no bullet can fit into. We can send man into space but cant manufacture exact replica's of guns that only use specific blanks? No movie set is safe with real guns being used.
