Sparks, Nevada — On May 30, 2023, Sparks police dispatch received multiple 911 calls, advising there was a woman yelling for help in the 600 block of East Prater Way. Caller stated, a male carrying a machete was yelling at the woman in the parking lot of the Iron Horse Shopping Center. The suspect was later identified as 29-year-old Dylan Wilson. Upon arrival, officers located Wilson matching the description given by multiple reporting parties and attempted to stop him.
After giving Wilson multiple commands to stop, Wilson ignored the officer’s lawful orders and began to run. During the foot pursuit, officers observed that Wilson was holding a knife in his hand. Officers told him to drop the knife, but he did not. While officers were running after Wilson, he suddenly turned and ran directly at the officers with the knife still in his hand. At that time, officers discharged their service weapons striking Wilson. Officers then began medical aid, until they were relieved by medical personnel. Wilson was transported to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

That first call annoyed the shit out of me. The caller gave all kinds of descriptive info, but the condescending dispatcher did everything she could do to get the caller to shut up, JUST do she can get to her preplanned rolodex of questions. This happened to me two years ago. There was a house that I passed on my commute from work that had a FIRE on the porch. I gave the address and the fact that there was shit on FIRE on the porch. After being made to give my name AND address (I live 30 miles from where this was happening, so it had NO bearing on the damned call!) After THAT, I was literally asked If I could see SMOKE! Hey ASSHOLE! What part of "THERE IS A FIRE ON THE PORCH" did you NOT understand three minutes ago. A whole house could have burnt to the ground, but hey, now they know the address of a guy from a DIFFERENT COUNTY. (That's important..🤦â€â™‚ï¸) Fortunately, it was an abandoned building. It's burned-out hulk still stands today.🤷â€â™‚ï¸
Side note, Trauma induced cardiac arrests RARELY are revivable. Patients with cardiac arrest caused by any condition may have survival rates up to 17% after cardiopulmonary resuscitation [3], whilst trauma patients with cardiac arrest, as most studies show, survive only in rates of 0% to 3.7% (National Institute of Health)
