Stockton, California — On June 4, 2023, before 8:00 p.m. Stockton Police responded to the area of Hammer Lane and Mariners Drive after receiving a 911 call that a man, identified as 20-year-old Jaden Durand Mixon, from Antelope, was armed with a gun and had attempted to stop a person’s vehicle near Sturgeon Road and Mariners Drive. Moments later, police received another 911 call of a man running at vehicles in the roadway and the caller said they saw the suspect pointing a handgun at a passing vehicle. Officers found Mixon armed with a gun when they responded.
A 30-second pre-roll setting on the body cameras captures the shooting but no sound because officers didn’t actually activate the body cameras until after they opened fire. According to police, Mixon took what seemed to be a gun from his waistband and dropped it on the ground before placing his hands over his head. However, after being given commands, police said Mixon reached down, grabbed the gun, and began running and pointing the gun at officers. After officers opened fire, Mixon was hit multiple times. There were no additional injuries reported. When police approached, they put Mixon in handcuffs and recovered the gun, a Glock 9MM, near him. He was eventually pronounced dead on the scene.

Man the officer who was driving sounded pretty scared after the shooting. I don’t blame him. God bless these guys. Their day took quite a rapid turn into a very dangerous situation. I can’t imagine chilling with you partner at one moment and then a call comes in and seconds later you’re looking at death straight in the face.

If ever an individual deserved to be shot…Jaden Mixon is that individual.
1) imagine being in 2023 and still not having bodycams that record audio and video at the same time. (The audio is clearly for the few bad ones to cover up their bs. Gives the smarter one 30 seconds to tell him to shut the f up.)
2) sometimes proactive thinking looks better. Dude go down, you run to him and kick gun away and render aid, you know, instead of sitting and waiting for his moans to stop and asking a offed body to drop the gun that laying already out of his hands, since he cant hold it, and put his hands up.
Sensible and critical thinking would dictate the common sense approach. Not many cops have it. In fact not many humans in 🇺🇸 have it.
Ppl will get outraged just as much if you stand and wait for him to pass then if you pepper a âš«ï¸ person that just tried offing you after offing his wife, dog, fish, ants nest, neighbors and is a well known tyrant. (Sheeples favorite word.)
