Street Racing Crackdown: View From The Sky – Everything Law and Order Blog

On July 15, 2017 officers from the Auburn, Kent, Renton, and Tukwila police departments joined forces – and then joined forces once again with the King County Sheriff’s Office Air Support Unit – in a crackdown on illegal street racing in Washington State.

The crackdown was primarily intended to curb ‘side effects’ of the street races, which included stabbings, fights, shooting, collisions and damage to local businesses.

By the end of the night officers made dozens of arrests, including 40 people arrested for attending an illegal street race, three for the actual racing itself, one for minor in possession of drugs, and one for an outstanding warrant. One stolen vehicle was recovered and a second stolen vehicle fled but was not found.

Watch as Guardian One orchestrates events on the ground, taking full advantage of HD thermal imaging – also known as cheat mode – to capture one very determined fleeing racer.

  1. LOL.. I know exactly where this is. This is just one of the local hotspots. These guys always use an area where there are issues dispatching because they are on the lines of jurisdiction and it causes a lot of trouble for the police involved

  2. Man the police there are terrible how it take them so long to get to the street where the kids where running … how long has he been asking for them to show up

  3. Guess it helps that the racers are lit up like flares compared to the other vehicles on the road… Damn those things put off some heat. 😳

  4. These cops chasing these kids need to be sent to remedial compass / navigation / gps training. My God… You have a HELICOPTER giving you blow by blow directions.. And how the heck did the units following them lose sight of them?

  5. 5 million helicopter and ton of jet a burned for some people having fun in a completely empty warehouse meanwhile assaults and murders in town

  6. Incredible waste of resources. Needed a chopper, 8 squads, and 2 K9 units just to catch 4 street racers escaping in a van.

  7. It honestly wouldn’t seem that hard to catch these guys like block the 4 or 5 exits like 95% of those cars couldn’t hop a curb even if they wanted too

  8. Idiot could've got away if he stuck to the trees. If there is a helicopter overhead, it will always have thermals.

  9. I really enjoyed this. My favorite part was when the driver was crawling backwards on the trail when the cop stepped up onto it, and then got up and ran away again.

I was waiting for him to go back and forth through a fence and a creek several times to throw off the K9, like Cool Hand Luke, but I don't think the K9 ever caught his scent.

  10. When the big group started to scatter its cause they were listening to the scanners. They heard lock it down and everybody yells cops and dips. Been there, done that

  11. Pilot "Guys, they're getting out this way"

    Pilot "Guys?"
    Guys "On our way"

    Forever later…
    Pilot "Hello?"

  12. What a great way to spend the taxpayers money. Busting those street racers, causing all those problems out in the industrial park. Let's rush in there and chase people out so 150 cars fly down the city streets instead. I mean, what could possibly go wrong with that! Helo with night vision to catch all the drama. Meantime a guy with a machete walks downtown sidewalks!

Anyone else really pissed that so many cars left?

Update: This whole video pissed me off at the seeming incompetence of that police department. They had an air unit giving near perfect callouts and yet they somehow took forever to listen to him and find where he's talking about.
