Rochester, N.Y — On March 20, 2023, a man, identified as 35-year-old Brendon Burns, was seen Monday morning driving a vehicle potentially linked to two other shootings and pulled out a “hunting-style” knife when confronted by officers around 1:00 p.m.. Investigators say Burns threatened deputies with the knife and ran. Deputies fired at least one shot as Burns ran, with officers and deputies chasing him through several yard into a backyard on Barrington Street. Police said that’s when Burns displayed a shotgun and refused orders to drop it, prompting officers and deputies to shoot him.

Officers and Deputies performed life-saving measures at the scene; however, the male was deceased. No one else was injured during this incident. Police said the New York State Attorney General’s Office is investigating. The Rochester Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office also launched internal investigations. Burns was previously arrested in 2018, accused of intentionally rear-ending a vehicle driven by an off-duty Rochester Police Department officer in Penfield. He was sentenced to 16 weekends in jail and three years of probation.

  1. We don’t need garbage like that on this earth, i hate to so say it, but law enforcement did this world a favor

  2. 3:47 "you're not in trouble" nah he aint in trouble, unless going to jail means he's in trouble. I don't get why cops tell that obvious lie.

  3. so, yeah they couldve shot him 5 minutes ago. Did he load a shotgun in front of them while they spectated? Then swiss cheesed him when he raised it? Seems like he wanted to die

  4. How did they shoot the air conditioner it was nowhere near him and they only fired a few shots. Also they could/should have shot him way sooner. You go pulling a gun out of a bag in front of police that are chasing you, you should get shot. I didn't even like the fact that they did nothing about him going into the car to grab the bag.

  5. Those officers not shooting when he was loading that gun is ridiculous. Shame on them. There is no reason to risk the lives of other officers. That was plenty of reason to shoot him.

  6. How they didn't shoot him while he was loading? In other videos they fire when the guy is just walking or running away

  7. How did they hit the AC unit? Really? You know the homeowner is going to be out a few g's because the cops sucked at shooting. Also, fuck that guy.
