Houston, Texas — On February 13, 2023, Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle at 5803 Bellaire Boulevard, when the driver (Tra Sean Scott, 20), pulled the vehicle over. He and another suspect (Darius Emon Hicks, 21) ran from the vehicle. Officers pursued the suspects and could see one of them (Hicks) with a pistol in his hand. One officer discharged his duty weapon and struck Hicks in the leg. Officers provided first aid to Hicks and paramedics transported him to the hospital in stable condition.

Darius Emon Hicks, 21, is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant in the 176th State District Court and evading arrest in Harris County Criminal Court # 9. Tra Sean Scott, 20, is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the same district court and evading arrest in the same criminal court as Hicks. The officer who discharged his duty weapon, E. Bettinger, was not injured. He was sworn in as an HPD officer in September 2011 and is assigned to the Midwest Patrol Division.

  1. The fact that the primary officer handled a foot pursuit, made several excellent shots, and then had to come back and work his own felony stop with 15+ officers on scene is horrendous. I would definitely be having words with my shift partners once we got back to the PD for letting me down like that.

Kudos to the primary officer though, handled that like a boss, even though he shouldn't have needed to do all that work at the end.

  2. WTF are these EEO hires doing while their partner is involved in a shooting? Standing around having a smoke while the unsecured vehicle is packed full of other potential shooters? Holy sh*t

  3. So your telling me the other 4 who complied didn't get shot? Huh would ya look at that see what happens when you comply 😂 blm would still say "but that boy was innocent he's a sweet boy" 😂
