On December 31, 2017 luck was with Texas Police Officer Jonathan Cramer of the Hurst Police Department.
Working a crash on an extremely slick Texas roadway, in ten minutes alone Cramer’s dash camera captured five cars and trucks losing control and skidding out. One of those instances was way too close for comfort.
Check it out.

The Texas Two Step: step step boom.
911: "Excuse me, there seems to be a penguin walking across the road". "Oh, never mind, it was an officer walking skiddy ice"
Ah, yes. The DFW metroplex. Finally some roads I'm used to.
When it ices, drivers go to shit. I've seen virtually piles of cars on the sides of the roads the day after icing.
That’s Texas weather for ya( I bet the next day was 95 degrees)
southern people have no idea what microspikes etc. are….sad
lol at that speed it would be fun just grab onto the car and enjoy the ride hahah
An old pair of socks you can slip over your shoes/boots do an amazing job of keeping you upright 😂
in Germany we have nearly no speeding limits on the autobahn.
This video is stupid.. nothing interesting or anything to laugh at, at all..
In Texas the roads get slippery ?
Why the hell are they standing on the traffic side (passenger side) of the vehicle? For christ sake stand on the driver side where you're at least in the gore point and not standing in the traffic lane.
Also why is he walking between his PV and the passenger car? We call that the "no leg zone." You stand there and you're likely to lose your legs.
Salt anyone ?
The problem is these Texas people keep stepping on their brakes
Gotta keep in mind that in TX (I lived in Dallas for 12 years), they are not used to this type of weather or commonly experience it like to the north. There is no ice or snow removal equipment there. At best, they throw cinder and sand. Yet true too, some drive like idiots while others are scared to death. I'll take TX winters though over what I dealt with over the north states.
Cheap Shoes
They should of called for a salt truck before the tow truck.
It’s NOT the ice’s fault. It’s the idiots that continue to drive the posted speed limit or faster in hazardous conditions.
I use to see people traveling at posted speeds (55mph) in NYC during snow storms with low visibility. Then sure enough an accident happened
Here in Florida I’ve seen people travel at (70mph) on the highway during heavy tropical rainstorms with slick roads and low visibility. Then sure enough again, accidents happened..
Stop being in a hurry people. Use common sense and travel at a safe speed in hazardous weather conditions.
Now what could go wrong here??? So you're playing human sheild for cars??? Hmm
You think Texas would have some Sanders by now for situations like this…and yes you can get straps that go on over your boots that’s are pretty much like chains for your boots, I keep them in the cruiser for situations like this
Do they call this in as a code brown?
He was very lucky and probably got some crap from his fellow officers, thankfully he’s okay, but all in fun.
I bet that driver of the burgundy car thought they’d hit him. How scary for both of them.
Another scene of LEO danger. ðŸ™â¤ï¸ðŸ‘®â€â™€ï¸ðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸
HUMPTY DUMPTY!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is horrible, but a little funny to people in the north who are like WTF is going on here. Also not a fancy move truck, that's pretty much how you do it.
Yeah I’ve had this happen to me a couple times I live in Houston. It’s really scary the second you tap that brake or even not doing anything you start sliding.
I hear heat melts ice. I always wondered why when building roads they just don't put some type of heating element in the roads. Or maybe have a fleet of jet engine trucks like the NHRA uses to dry the strip.
Pro tip: If you're braking on black ice you are giving up all directional control of your vehicle because you will slip all four tires. You can turn, accelerate, or decelerate, but only one at a time.
Edit: Get in the other lane when you're passing a cop car pulled over on the side of the freeway, it makes it much harder to crash into them.
Needed some benny hill music 🙂
Lol i live in fort worth this is near north richland hills mall off 820 and close to the at home store. People a freaking stupid here when it comes to ice and it seems that more people are in more of a hurry not giving two $@!#s less about others safty. Im am not looking foward to this years hell.
It’s Texas… we are never prepared for ice or snow. Ice like this and all our schools would be closed. Lol
Get these good cops some boots with spikes that would help alot
Captain hindsight here! They should have used flares to indicate hazardous road conditions…
that little 'whip' of his hand saved him a big hassle
