Deputy Dominique Calata – Pierce County Sheriff’s Department
Deputy Calata responds to a domestic violence call. The deputies believe an intoxicated male suspect left the trailer but remains in the contained scene. Circling the trailer, the deputies spot the suspect lying down on the roof of the trailer. He refuses to come down and after several minutes, the deputies climb onto the roof and subdue the resisting suspect. They have a difficult time getting him off the roof since he wanted to get down his own way. Finally, on the ground, he says he knew about his warrant and didn’t want to go to jail. He tries to explain his side but fails. The deputies arrest him with his warrant, domestic violence, and resisting arrest.

This was a devastating loss for our community. For those of you, that may be wondering what happened to him he was shot and killed in the line of duty while responding as a swat police officer.

Too risky for error with that head maneuver with all the adrenaline and risk. We need better tech for cops and suspects, those cops risked WAY too much for a drunk… They should have better tools.
