Peace officers are routinely required to respond to an emergency as quickly as possible, knowing that the outcome of an emergency may rest in the balance. Each officer is expected to respond in a responsible manner, balancing the risks of their driving against the risk to the public posed by the call they are responding to.
That said, extreme speeds are inherently dangerous and although risks can be managed, minimized, and mitigated they never go away entirely. Few know the potential consequences better than highway patrol troopers. Dealing with those consequences is a less-than-pleasant part of their job.
But New Mexico’s straight open roads and low population density in outlying areas make for an inviting state to floor it — without going to jail.
In this footage, watch as New Mexico earns its keep as the unofficial best place in the country to get caught speeding. Drivers in New Mexico receive the same $257 citation (with no points) for driving 36 MPH over the limit as they would driving 136 MPH over.
That is, unless they also have a suspended license. Like Brice.

Young man, testosterone, fast car. Risk takers, warriors, ballz of steel.
I do not claim Of me getting caught by the police
Let's see how many points we can wrap up .
BUS DRIVER: "When are you going to buy a car, kid?"
KID: "I got arrested for doing 128 mph on a suspended license 2 years ago when I used to have had a 2017 Camaro"
When I star driving,I have no DL,I was driving 101 mph in freeway, when the police officer ask me why? I sad …is the speed limit!! Officer sad…no,101 is the freeway number.
Oh chut….😔
Kids 5’4â€
As a 52 yr old adult, I'd like to say something about how stupid it is to drive that fast, especially on a road like that which has curves like that. But when I was 19, I drove my Acura Integra down the 405 in Los Angeles at 3am at 130+mph, racing some other stupid kid for no reason.
It's really stupid to drive that fast because there are so many ways to get out of control and kill yourself. Then again, I won. The other driver, in my rear view, flashed his lights. It was the only time I ever raced that car and it was fun. Fun and stupid.
Putting all lives at risk!!!
17 when you think you'll live forever not matter what stupid tricks you get up to. 71 when you give thanks at the end of every day just for making it through another one.
Parents please think twice before letting a 17 year old drive a high performance car. Youth is never quite as good looking after a 128 mph crash.
The next day his insurance dropped him then he lost the car for not staying with terms of the loan…live and learn.
well i did this a few times at 17
Ok, in my opinion it is not the speed which is dangerous (If it's done my experienced drivers) It's the people who fall asleep on the damn road and switching lane's without turn signals and without using the fucking mirror. You can blame my opinion all you want, but this is still true. In germany there is no speed limit on the autobahn and not 1 cop told me that the inattentive people are much more dangerous than the ones speeding.
Kid's out here living life in the fast lane, let him go
