Mount Dora, Florida — The Lake County sheriff’s office released body and dash cam video that shows the moments an 18-year-old identified as Jonny Santiago got into a shootout with Lake County deputies during a high-speed chase, that ended with him crashing a truck into a Mount Dora synagogue on Monday, according to authorities. On Sunday, July 10, 2022 the agency received a call at about 11 p.m. from the teen’s mother, who is in New York, concerned about an argument Santiago had with his father at their Deltona home, while she was on the phone with her spouse.

VCSO spokesperson Andrew Gant said deputies were dispatched to check on them at their house on Lehigh Drive but found nobody there. Then, deputies in DeBary spotted a Ford F-150 truck Santiago was known to drive. Grant said the vehicle fled from an attempted stop. Santiago reportedly sped away from police again in Sanford before a helicopter spotted the pickup about 4:45 p.m. Monday, near U.S. Highway 441 and Eudora Road. A deputy tried to pull the truck over while driving along U.S. Hwy 441 through Mount Dora. What followed was a high-speed chase that dash cam footage caught on camera.

Dash camera video shows the moment a deputy collided with Santiago’s truck Monday. “Shots fired! Shots fired,” one deputy could be heard saying amid the pursuit. “He was shooting at me in front of the cemetery,” he added. Santiago is reportedly seen firing at the deputy and the deputy firing back, hitting him. Santiago was taken to hospital, listed in stable condition after shootout Investigators believe Santiago killed his father, Juan Santiago, in Deltona. His father has been missing since Sunday night and family members have flown in from out-of-state hoping to help find him.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office believes violence erupted after Santiago and his father argued about using the family truck. Sheriff Mike Chitwood said the two began to argue as Johnny’s mother was on the phone with Juan in New York. Jonny Santiago faces charges of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, discharging a firearm from a vehicle in public and aggravated fleeing and eluding lights and sirens. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is currently investigating.

  1. Dude more than likely killed his pops, and shot at numerous cops, for no valid reason. Give this monster 60yrs. no parole. Violent offenders should be old and elderly when they get out. The fact that we have people who yell about how much it takes to house a prisoner, how cruel prisons are etc; are exactly why people don’t fear going to jail….”Cruel and unusual punishment” was a liberal trope made popular in 1970’s and 90’s. Newsflash: IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE CRUEL!!! Can’t it get any crueler than taking a life? Screw the criminal.

  2. I know we're a compassionate society but trying to save the life of a thug who just tried to murder you just seems wrong.

  3. What did that thug expect after trying to murder the police? He got exactly what he deserved. And if he survived, prison for the rest of his useless life!

  4. officer #2 is so brave. just rammed the suspect's car and shot from a close distance. it's sad that the suspect survived.
suspect: shoots at officer, "i am in so much pain".
    well you asked for it.

  5. Pretty young to murder for that truck. And he crashed it on day one. Too bad that fusillade wasn’t more accurate.

  6. TURN OFF THE SIRENS!!
There is no reason why cop number 8 or someone that got there after the shooting stopped, should not turn of those sirens.
They are doing nothing but keeping tensions higher then they should be, stressing the ppl on scene, AND, makes it hard to watch the video with sound up. 😀

  7. Another shining light for the 2nd Amendment and the heroic work of the NRA. Nothing like spending your life making sure this disgusting person was able to access guns. God Bless America!

  8. Wha, it hurts so bad.

Well focker you weren't worried it was gonna hurt anyone else. Sometimes you get more than you give.

  9. Anyone notice how well that Glock jammed? @2:41 (find the correct frames because they are there) clearly shows bullet left in the mag @2:44 you can clearly see that same mag has at least 4 bullets remaining
