On Tuesday, March 12th, 2024, deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office apprehended three individuals for stealing nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise from Bath & Body Works and TJ Maxx.

According to authorities, at around 2:30 p.m. on the aforementioned date, deputies were dispatched to the Palm Coast Landing shopping area following reports of three suspects, wearing surgical masks, shoplifting from the mentioned stores in Palm Coast’s Town Center. Upon arrival, Master Deputy Jackson observed two females matching the suspects’ descriptions hastily exiting the stores, each carrying sizable shopping bags.

Upon activating his emergency lights, the two suspects, identified as Amanda Wright, 36, and Tiara Gailyard, 29, both residents of Jacksonville, were seen attempting to enter a white Toyota Sedan, driven by Gerald Jenkins, 28, also from Jacksonville. M/D Jackson approached the driver’s side and instructed Jenkins to halt the vehicle. However, Jenkins ignored the commands, reversing the vehicle dangerously, nearly striking M/D Jackson and a nearby witness’s vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle’s license plate was concealed with a surgical mask.

Despite efforts by deputies to deploy StopSticks near Amoco on Highway 100 East at I-95, the vehicle swerved to avoid them, ultimately ending up in a water retention area beside the gas station. All three suspects were promptly apprehended after being extracted from the partially submerged vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed stolen property from the targeted businesses, as well as merchandise and bags from numerous other retailers. Additionally, a metal magnetic device utilized for removing anti-theft devices at retail stores was discovered. The total value of stolen merchandise from the Palm Coast retail stores amounted to just over $1,836, which included 50 candles from Bath & Body Works.

All three suspects were arrested and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.

Jenkins was found to have three active fugitive warrants from Hillsborough, Marion, and Duval Counties, for offenses including Retail Theft, Grand Theft, and Driving While License Suspended, among others. He was apprehended on charges of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Driving While License Suspended with Knowledge, and Use/Possession of an Anti-Shoplifting Countermeasure Device. He is currently being held without bond.

Wright, who was on probation following a retail theft conviction in Jacksonville in July 2022, faces charges including Violation of Probation, Shoplifting, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, and Use/Possession of an Anti-Shoplifting Countermeasure Device. She is also being held without bond.

Gailyard, meanwhile, had an active fugitive warrant from St. Johns County for Grand Theft. She was arrested on charges of Shoplifting, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, and Use/Possession of an Anti-Shoplifting Countermeasure Device, with a bond set at $40,000.

  2. It's strange when law enforcement personnel walk and say "stop" instead of simply running after the suspect. Is it some sort of phenomenon related to the bystander effect? Could've easily apprehended one of the females.

  3. 社会に不必要な人間、今まで被害に遭った店の関係者が気の毒。

  4. They certainly fucked up. You don’t steal in Florida unless you want prison time! If they want to shoplift they should go to New York or California you can get away with it there😂

  5. IT IS VERY HARD NOT TO BECOME RACIST… with this shit HAPPENING EVERY DAY, EVERYWHERE and WITH the ignorant excuses! I AM NOT… but damn its gonna happen in an instant, not just to me, but everyone!

  6. They were going to use the PSV (partially submerged vehicle) to set sail for their homeland and freedom. It'll be on Netflix or Disney soon.
