So yeah….saw a drone….which I read that Redondo Beach has a police drone they activley use, so I wouldn’t put it past Torrance PD to do the same- but then it occured to me, it might not be a police drone…..

  1. Everyone notice @ 5:37 Officer Garver walks over to another Torrance PD to wine about me, and point me out?……grab a tissue Garver and pull yourself together

  2. The drone belongs to Torrance PD.  They were the ones flying it.  Why were you harassing my pal Cho ?  I was there for an hour and he was polite and used proper discretion.  Go easy on him.

  3. Checkpoints are a violation of the American citizen's civil rights. Those who willfully violate the United States Constitution, and especially those who do so using a gun in the commission of the crime, should be resisted by lethal means if necessary. Their call.

  4. you could do a FOIA to see if the department has registered their drone with the government, like everyone else is required to do, to see if they are violating federal laws, and if they haven't, you could begin a federal investigation into the departments actions and willful disregard for the law… remember, they are NOT recreational drone operators, so they can't just follow the simple online process you or I would have to, they are required to follow FAR more steps as an entity… because they are not doing this for "recreation" they are doing this for "commercial" purposes, and must be held to that far higher standard…

I suspect you will find, not only have they not registered their drone like recreational folks would, they likely haven't gone through the lengthy process required for a commercial operator… the FAA takes this stuff serious, $250,000 and 3 years in prison for the chief of police! lol…

essentially as of now, police departments must treat that drone like they would a helicopter, and get all federal and state approvals and certifications, because the FAA has not yet outlined (the last time I checked) corporate entity allowances, so its to be treated as a traditional aircraft until they make those allowances… perhaps I should brush up and look into whats been done the past year or so, but the FAA is slow, and I doubt, but may be wrong, they have progressed much the past year or so…

P.S. does the police department have a licensed pilot operating the drone, or just the SGT because he pulled rank and wanted to fly the toy? FEDERAL FINES!

P.S.S. I almost forgot, its ILLEGAL to fly drones at night, so unless they are registered like a helicopter, with a commercial pilots license, they are in fact breaking even the "hobbyist" laws for which they might claim exemption under… devil is in the details sometimes, and nighttime operation is currently illegal according to the FAA… (page 159 in the pdf begins the discussion on it, basically they didn't want to have to come up with lighting standards for drones, so they just banned nighttime flights) you can ask if they got one of the special waivers required for nighttime flights, otherwise, federal violation!

  5. The Constitution / Law of the Land / "your 'rights'" disappeared in 1871. The gov stopped working for you long before you were born. Now it's a corporation. As a corporation, you must agree to be bound by the bylaws of said corporation in order to be bound by them. For example, when you register your corp with the state, you freely without coercion sign articles of incorporation and appoint officers and stockholders, and establish bylaws. When you apply for a job at ACME, Inc., you would sign an employee handbook subjecting you to the policies of the company thereby agreeing that their laws are applicable to you. Did you ever sign any such agreement without a gun to your head with the corp of the USA?
