It is always interesting to listen to this type of mid-level commander justify these checkpoints. As a practical matter, this sergeant' s opinion about why they do it is irrelevant. His commanders decided to do them and he is just following orders to run them.
Further, their justifications are so vague and silly. Frequently there is no correlation between reality and their actions. But, in a government agency, it really doesn't matter. Politics is paramount in all decisions.
I never think that it is profitable to discuss topics of government efficiency with folks at this level. Those decisions are out of their control. Only the topics of corruption and the law are profitable. And then, only on the margin.

Checkpoint closed early because all the officers reached their citation and arrest quotas and of course barely any DWI. If only everyone was able to get paid so much for doing absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, as these cops prove, the only way that people can get paid too much to do nothing is to become parasitic to productive members of the community.

What's the point of these public servants taking vitals signs if their job is outside the scope of someone from the medical field? I guess it's not enough for these public servants in blue to pretend to be soldiers on US land that they have to pretend to be a Doctor too.
