Public release: DRIVER FLEEING FROM TRAFFIC STOP CRASHES IN DELTONA
A driver who fled from an attempted traffic stop for a seatbelt violation Thursday sped out of the deputy’s sight and later crashed into a vehicle in Deltona, injuring the other driver and causing life-threatening injury to himself.
Around 11:42 a.m., a deputy tried to pull over a white Chevrolet Camaro in the area of Elkcam and Providence boulevards. The driver fled west on Elkcam and then to Normandy Boulevard, as the vehicle was spotted by several other patrol deputies. None of those deputies initiated a pursuit.
About 7 minutes later, around 11:49 a.m., the Camaro crashed into a black Volkswagen Beetle at the intersection of Howland Boulevard and Wolfpack Run.
The Camaro driver, a 26-year-old Orlando man, was unresponsive at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Volkswagen, an 18-year-old Deltona man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, where the Camaro driver was in critical condition Thursday afternoon. His identity is not being released at this time pending notification of his family members.

  1. The officer saw the "black" driver had no seatbelt on through that tint? Thats some serious eye vision. Did dispatch say it was a rental car? Rental cars now come with the tint on them?

  2. I suspect it's illegal to type while driving..even if you're a police employee?
I KNOW it's illegal for that popo employee to drive w/o his seat belt at the end. He clearly doesn't NOT have to remove it to get out of the car.

  3. Id feel like a super hero keeping the city safe from all those seat belt violators! Or maybe they ran him knew he had warrants & were going to use the selt belt violation as a lame excuse just to pull him, that sounds more real to me! Doesnt that laptop create a serious blind spot?

  4. Common sense tells me that the driver of the Camaro was fleeing for more than being cited for a seatbelt violation. Also, it’s interesting that he was not pursued by other officers who spotted him. Very educational. Thanks JM. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

  5. Play stupid games…win stupid prizes…like a trip to the hospital hand cuffed or worse the morgue 🙄👻😵☠💀
