They do the same thing with domestic issues between husband and wife. The man is almost always forced to leave because the cops tend to sympathize with vagina carrying members of society over penis carrying members of society. At that point there only objective is to keep the peace, not to enforce the law.

This is a classic case of cops not knowing the law and the cops are winging it. Cops will tell people it's a civil matter and to hire an attorney and take the matter to court. Cops take the easy way out, so they don't have to spend hours writing reports so the courts can make an informed decision. Remember cops are protected by acting in good faith, providing they don't know or understand the law. Every cop knows this law, they're just playing Judge and jury in this case.
