  1. Bruh! Steven Spielberg gave us some of the best female characters ever,
Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Dr Elle Sattler in Jurassic Park.
    Sarah Harding in Lost World.
The entire cast of The Color Purple.
Also count Willy in Temple of Doom.
    Etc. Etc.

  2. When white women speak of equality for women, she means "white women" She is not talking about all women. Silly woman that she is!!

  3. “ Until you do right by the Color Purple, everything you think about is gone fail”😂😂😂

  4. Listen as inclusive as America tries to portray it is Im not surprised she didn’t mention the “Color Purple”.Thats a movie from a black author. And we as black watch some of the same movies as white Americans but they don’t know about or even have interest in many black cast movies.

  5. She just didn't know I don't think it was an effort to not acknowledge color purple and she apologized.

  6. All of the women in Color Purple are key lead roles including Whoopi, Oprah etc.. and also Sally Field was a key lead role in Lincoln, Meryl Streep was a key lead role in The Post, Holly Hunter was a key lead role in Always…..so Elizabeth Banks is a fool…..wtf has she even done? Pitch perfect? Oh greeeeaaat

  7. Why do people chose to be blissfully ignorant like Elizabeth Banks? So much has been made about the movie "The Color Purple" not winning any major awards possibly because of the black cast and/or because of Spielberg directing it, how have people not at least heard of such? I wonder if these folks have ever heard of 9-11. Plus, fools need to stop giving Banks a break. If you are going to make a claim like she did, at least do your research first. Not only was Whoopi the star in "The Color Purple," Goldi Hawn was the lead in "The Sugarland Express," Sandy Dennis in "Something Evil," Jennifer Lawrence in "It's What I Do," and Ruby Barnhill in "The BFG."

  8. She knew he directed the color purple. She tried to dismiss it bc it wasn’t centered around white women. I bet if it starred Michele pfeifer she’d remember it

  9. What about his most recent film "The Post" starring Meryl Streep in the lead role as Katherine Graham, the owner of the The Washington Post?

  10. Feminist Propaganda Crap. When will Feminist Men/White Knights and Black Women in particular realize Feminism was created by middle class White Women for White Women.

  11. Some of you guys need to actually watch her speech because you guys are bringing race into this where it doesn't belong. After she made her statement regarding Spielberg never having a female lead someone hollered The Color Purple and she immediately said 'Oh The Color Purple?, well there you go then I'm wrong." She immediately acknowledged The Color Purple as having a female lead but was unsure if Spielberg produced it. Thats when she began to question his involvement in the movie. If anything she made herself look silly for trying to throw Spielberg under the feminist bus. However, she did nothing racist in my opinion.
