It’s a little-known fact that in the former German Democratic Republic, more than 10,000 boys and girls, from babies to seven-year-olds, are estimated to have been taken from their families and placed in harsh children’s homes or adopted by couples according to the communist ideology. According to Helga Labs, the GDR’s last Minister of Education, it was all for the children’s good. We hear their stories.

This documentary was produced by Light Films and directed by Anne Veron, Gadh Charbit. It was first released in 2016.

  1. So many red commies still living in unified Germany and not changed from the DDR years in high positions of authority, it's shocking!!
The German govt should be helping these forced adoption children reunite with their birth mothers and extended families, just so sad ..

  2. And there are still people who are convinced that the countries of the Soviet bloc were a workers' paradise and mourn their passing.

  3. East Germany had a lot of Nazi similarities, except for the genocide. This is particularly true with its oppression and intelligence gathering apparatus.

  4. Poor Katrin, didn’t keep up her apartment to German standards…sure it was not organized enough for the DDR official standards. Probably didn’t make her bed that morning
