In my rav4 the transmission oil looks like the burnt damaged one but the dipstick says ATF doesnt need to be changed. What gives?
Great info. Thank you.
Whoa wow, what a great and consice video. I know I've commented before but on second watch I got even more out of this video. Again great job and definitely subbing.
Hey Nice Vid Cris. I mistakenly put gear stick on 3 position, for around 5-7minutes with parking brake on.. Mistakenly if its been on N position. Will it destroy the clutch? Just ordinary 4 at. Clocked ad 20.000kms. Thanks
"Lifetime fluid" is nonsensical. Even a sealed tranny needs at least one complete fluid change in it's lifetime. Those first few thousand break-in miles are gonna put metal and clutch/synchro particles in the fluid and filter. Regardless if that was compensated for somehow (larger filter, etc), it's going to wear the tranny faster than if you changed the fluid at least once after break-in.
Fantastic!
do i need a flush or a drain for a transmission that has been serviced 3 times but still gets a jolt during cold start and the regulates to work better when its hot
If the fluid is in the middle "needs replacing" stage @2:55, is it advisable to do a standard change, but not full flush? The fluid in my 2010 Scion xB is darker while still retaining a slight reddish hue. It's not bright pink, yet not dark and burnt either.
Thank you! You put my mind at ease. Change it is. Not flush. 🙂
So what if my owners manual says to flush the transmission but the previous owner didn’t do so and the oil is burnt, do I just ride it out until the transmission dies?
quick question about the car battery , Nissan says the battery for my 2011 V6 is the 24F battery but Canadian tire said it’s the 35F battery and that the 24F is only for the V8 pathfinder…. so who’s wrong here lol
Great video. I am unfortunately in the group of people that has burnt transmission oil and with metal shavings. I took it to a dealership because it was shifting funny and they told me I needed a new transmission because of the condition of the oil. Hoping a fluid CHANGE will fix it somewhat or at least give me a couple more years out of it.
My car has 178k miles on it I don’t know if it’s been changed is it too late
I know nothing about cars so seeing you convey this information was very helpful I really appreciate you making this video.
My 01 has 311k miles on it with no transmission fluid changes. At 100k the fluid was still good but no shop would touch it because they were afraid it might mess up. It has started not taking off in drive and i have to start off in 2nd. Every time i park i have to do it again no matter if its for a moment or all day. Help please!
They got me with the sealed trans. 🤨
“Lifetime” means the same as when they say “lifetime warranty”… it ain’t the vehicles life time, definitely isn’t YOUR lifetime (haha)…
Bought it around 100k.
Unknown history… 117k now.
Hopefully it isn’t burned.
Drain and fill.
Thanks. Do you need a cooler to maintain longevity.
And this information applies to Manual cars too?
Thanks for clearing it up you are a real one
thats a transaxle….
my pathfinder 2011 has 80k miles, i purchased it used when it had 50k miles. i never changed the tran fluid and I don’t know if the previous owner changed it. assuming they never changed it as manual says change every 50k miles. you think it’s a good idea to change it at 80k miles or leave it alone ?
I have a 2018 Honda hrv I don’t know the service history. 80,8123 miles, do you recommend to do a transmission change? Or what should I do?
1 fluid change removes 40% of the old fluid. The second removes 24% of the old fluid. 3rd change removes only 14.4%. 4th just 8.64%. So you can seem there is diminishing returns. 2 changes gets you 64% fluid change. 3 changes 78.4%.
Chris, this is Very good information thank GOD, for you 😊
Ima just get another damn transmission
