Do Head Gasket Sealers Actually Work (FULL 2yr TEST with Engine Teardown) – Everything Law and Order Blog

Replacing a blown Head Gasket can be difficult and expensive. Sometimes your car is not worth fixing and this is where a head gasket sealer in a bottle comes in handy. Do these head gasket sealers actually work? How long do they last? How do they work? What does a bad head gasket look like? Do head gasket sealers clog radiators?

In this video I show you how to use a head gasket sealer to repair the head gasket and test it for 2yrs and 10,000 miles. I then tear down the engine and show you how the headgasket failed, how the sealer worked, and if the radiator got clogged up with sealer.

  1. So it was brought to my attention that my house phone number is on the oil analysis sheet. I am waiting for YouTube to blur it so in the meantime, please dont call it…

  2. I've used the bars head gasket repair bottle that worked great , the bottle saids permanent but not true I added about 3 bottles in 2 months . Worked well after 2 months engine was toast repaired the head gasket eventually . I would use the bars head gasket repair bottle again was around $29 bucks for a temperary fix that lasted 2-3 months

  3. So that head warped from it over heating when it had the head gasket leak ? Can that happen with just 1 time over heating or does it usually take a few times of over heating to cause that . ?

  4. Should you flush the coolant after the head gasket fluid seals? If it doesn’t hurt the coolant system, would it be smart to add some to a 200,000 mile/20 year old vehicle as a safety in case a leak does develop?

  5. Great video. Anyone who knows cars a little has had to help a gramps, a single mom, a kid on this one. I think the mechanism of sodium silicate is probably not just an evaporative deposition, but chemically triggered too. If so, the gasket or sealer (Subaru) might work better or worse. Not really sure but „water glass“ silica has a complex chemistry to become water proof.

  6. I tried your method 2 months ago, and yes the car is running great and have not seen anymore issues, hopeful that the issue stays resolved
Thank you for saving me some serious money.

  7. I'm a retired chemist and did a lot of research on this subject and settled on Blue Devil for my '97 Altima AND my '05 F-250 (diesel). No more head gasket issues even after several years of driving both vehicles. One proviso– follow the directions on the bottle to the letter.

  8. I stopped watching at 2:29 If you have a demolition derby car and you want a few more heats. by all means try this. On many modern cars the coolant passages are so small at the head gasket any stop leak will plug them off. Now you have no critical cooling to certain parts of the engine. If you can't afford to fix a head gasket, you sure as hell can't afford to replace the whole engine, or the extra 1000 dollars in labor trying to get the stop leak out of everything

  9. I just bought a head Gasket Sealer. I have a 2012 Jeep Liberty 3.7 liter. I believe I have a very small leak between the coolant and the combustion chamber. Upon sitting overnight after driving it When you start up, you get a puff of white smoke with a misfire in cylinder 2. Engine light is on, and the car runs rough at first then clears up. After a few days of driving, I have to replace the coolant. The brand of sealer I purchased is BAR'S LEAKS Head Gasket Fix. The car has 90K plus, so I'm hesitant to use it just yet. The other side of the coin is this…If I decide to fix it, I will most likely replace the motor seeing that the amount of work to do the head gaskets are almost greater than replacing the engine itself, which means as a last resort, I will use the head gasket fix. Any suggestions???

  10. Mazda RX-8 Rotary. Blown internal rotor coolant seal. Same as a head gasket in a non rotary. Dealer said engine was toast. Full white smoke screen out the tail pipe. Independent said engine was toast. My son and I (his car) pulled all the plugs, grounded the plug wires an spun it over. Tons of water came spraying out. We then followed the exact directions in a single small bottle of "K-Seal". It was a super hot day. When it was time to drive it, I took it on the freeway for about an hour all the time watching the rearview for white "smoke" and the temperature gauge expecting it to overheat. It ran perfect. I turned around and drove an hour back on the freeway. Parked it and sat over night. I fully expected it to not turn over or spray white smoke if it would even start. It started like new….. He drove the car for another 37,000.0 miles with not issues and sold the car.

  11. Real steal best head gasket repair I have ever use hands down sorry all that stuff he has sucks. Just follow the directions to the Tee ok later, now when I did mine, I was burning antifreeze u can smell it but mine lasted forever thanks guys bye bye.
