How to Install LED Bed Lights (Fun DIY Project) – Everything Law and Order Blog

Learn how to install LED strip lights in the bed of your truck or under the hood of your car for less than $30. I show you how to wire the white LED strip lights with a push button switch and a magnetic switch so when you open the tailgate the lights come on automatically and illuminate the inside of the truck bed.

You can also install the LED lights under the hood of your car so when you open your hood, the lights turn on automatically or with the push of a button. In this case we are working on a Ford Raptor pickup truck but the LED light installation process is the same on any vehicle.

  1. Hey @ChrisFix! I just want to say thanks SO MUCH for your videos! I'm an 18 year old girl who knows absolutely nothing about cars and I've always been too scared to buy one, but with your videos I just got an amazing deal on my first car and it's in great shape! You also helped me prove my boyfriend wrong haha because I changed some brake pads, rotors, and did an oil change all by myself which was the coolest thing ever! So keep doing what you do because it's helping millions!! 🙂

  2. When I use "Christmas tree drill" I tape after the edge with electrical tape. In that case I can't accidentally drill further than I intended to, because the tape can't drill. Saved me a few times, not gonna lie.

  3. Not sure what the prices were when you posted this, but LEDs+Switch+magnetic switch+wire protector+fuse using your links is $78 and that doesn't include the wire itself. I wish it was only $30 for everything. Super cool video though!

  4. I just ordered everything, I would like to wire in the light on the button so I can find it in the dark. Where would I attach the red wire from the button switch that you taped off?

  5. Hi @ChriFix!! I want to thank you to all the video you posted. It's very educational. If you have a chance please can you help on installation for the hood LED strips. The instuction says tap it on ACC fuse or DRL but we can't locate it. Even if I check in the forum, no one have the answer for Lexus NX 350 or fuse having 12v doesn't indicate

  6. I've done work like this in the past and have a decent amount of electrical experience, and this video was really well done. I learned a few great tricks, and the methods that you used were smart and proven. Great job

  7. Chris, can you do an interior LED lighting vid? I have a 2024 Frontier and it has the reading lights, but no other interior lights! I was thinking LED strips to illuminate the floor area with it ran to the fuse box. I welcome any other options you can think of. Something with constant power and a switch in an empty slot that I have would be cool. Hope you can help with this because I'm at a loss as to what to do.

  8. I know the videos old but I just did this install but instead wired the switch and button to the positive side it worked great went out there this morning and the magnetic switch was melted and looking through the reviews other people doing the same install had the same problem with the magnetic switch melting.

  9. Awesome video! but man I didn't appreciate the hack job on the ground. You have all the parts but you didn’t used it. 😢

  10. Need some help, led strip lights are ON, but dim, all connections are good, ground is good, not sure how else to trouble shoot this, any thoughts? Spoke to an electrician, he said I needed to install a relay between the battery and lights, not to do a direct connection from battery to lights, does any know how to install the relay and where?

  11. Hey Chris! I spent so much time looking for this exact setup online and couldn't find what I was looking for! All the setups were much more complicated than this! So thanks for making this video! 😊

  12. I loved the video very helpful. I just have one question how would I wire it to have my switch to light up.
