FORMER MAYOR MISSING: Ralph Davis Brown (Day 1) Underwater Missing Person Search – Everything Law and Order Blog

Former mayor of Cornelius Ralph Brown missing since May 16, suffers from dementia and has not had his memory or heart medication since he left his Cornelius, Oregon.

His daughter, Laurie Saunders, said during a news conference that she spoke with her father the night he went missing shortly after 9pm and that he wasn’t sure exactly where he was.

He told her he was “literally in the bushes,” and that he might be near a golf course, but couldn’t give her more specific details. He also asked if people were out looking for him.

She told him to wait for a call from his son, who was going to go out and find him, but Brown didn’t answer the phone after that. And nobody has been able to find him, even though hundreds of people out there helping with the search.

This series documents Adventures With Purpose’s multi-day search for Ralph.

Brown is 76 years old, about 5-foot-10, with white hair and blue eyes. He’s also missing the tip of his index finger.

His car is a dark blue, 2014 Nissan Sentra with Oregon plates.

Anyone who sees him or his car is asked to call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 503-629-0111

There have been a few sightings reported, but none were substantiated, said Daryle Brown, Ralph Brown’s son.

Daryle said his parents were in their home on May 16 when Brown stood up and said he was going to his “other house.”

Ralph has early-onset Alzheimer’s symptoms, which leads to confusion. He no longer has a driver’s license and has not driven a car in more than a year, Daryle said.

He drove away from the home in the 600 block of South 12th Avenue in Cornelius, Oregon.

There have been no location pings on his phone after 10:25pm that evening, and no communication from Brown in the time since he’s been missing.

There have also been no charges to his credit card.

More than 200 volunteers are still helping in the search, including former students, friends, and even strangers.

Hug the ones you love for you never know when it might be the last time you see them.

We are humbled by the opportunity all of you have given us to help in the search for answers as to what happened to Ralph.

  2. When you look back at your sonar footage from this video, can you tell where you passed over the vehicle initially?

  3. It’s so crazy to know that you were right next to Ralph’s car within the first two minutes of the search beginning. You guys were so dedicated and it’s amazing the amount of time and effort you put in to eventually finding Ralph!

  4. Is it just me or was this entire video crazy blurry? Found myself getting distracted by it from the very start of the video to the end?

  5. My dad had dementia and Parkinsons's, and passed away at the age of 72. He always told us that he wanted to go home, even though he was at his house. In his mind, he didn't think he was home. He thought he was somewhere else that was like his home, but, this home he was at was not his home. You could not talk him out of it, but, you could use humor to distract him. Luckily for us, he was not allowed to drive anymore. His family will never know what he meant by saying he wanted to go home. No one will ever know his frame of mind when he made that statement. Watching a loved one going through dementia is difficult on the whole family. Hug those you love. You never know what tomorrow holds.

  6. This is so crazy watching this back! From minute 12-14 you basically were right on top of him. SO insane!
Thank you so much for going back, and never giving up on him!! My family is SOOO appreciative of everything you guys have done for us. 😊

  7. Coming back to this now after yesterday's announcement… chills. Literal chills. Your dedication to helping these families and going above and beyond is incredible. You are truly special people, and I am so grateful to be following y'all!

  8. being so familiar with along the waterways around the Wheatland Ferry, Scotts Mills in Silverton area to name just a few you see those kids in the background see how many of them have a life jacket on that part of the video would be a great clip to take for life jacket safety for accidental drownings.

  9. I swear I didn't cheat on this but within three minutes after hitting and making my comment about Wheatland Ferry. I grew up in that area so I know about every access and how they can change it one of my first places to look. I will send those comment and go back and see how this plays out

  10. Knowing those areas and where he me might of gone was the Wheatland Ferry. Many accidentally have driven into the Willamette there and many drownings (2 drownings June 2021) over many decades.

  11. It’s so sad! I have to say that as far as I’m aware, people unfortunate to have been diagnosed with dementia, that they are no longer aloud to drive! Not that it makes it any better to have been diagnosed or for those close to that said person

  12. You guys need to connect with Tyler Henry (Medium), specially for these cases where you don't know where look anymore. His work is phanomenal.

  13. After seeing a few of these videos where the person is elderly and/or suffering dementia symptoms, I'm wondering is there no requirement in the USA to declare this to DMV or whoever issues your driving licence?
In the UK, driving licences expire at 70yo, you have to renew it and you have to declare certain medical conditions. If your GP has concerns about any medical conditions they have to inform DVLA who can revoke your licence.
Obviously that wouldn't stop someone just driving without a licence if they still have access to a car, in theory no one would know unless the person got pulled up by the police,

  14. I know it’s months old but maybe don’t record the summary in front of a bunch of kids screaming and playing? You get drowned out, and it’s honestly annoying as hell.

  15. Well that definitely explains why you can't keep a hold of it oh my goodness look at all the seaweed you dragged up

  16. If you have a loved one with dementia, even if it's early you need to take away the keys. This could prevent so many of these cases. My f-i-l was early in his dementia and I put a tracker into his vehicle and we watched him on our computer drive to a town same name as ours but two states away. It can be difficult to have these conversations with the person with dementia but it really needs to be done.

  17. Oh that's why you guys always remove the plates I feel like you guys have probably said it every time you pull one but I forget why you pull them. But that's smart for not only other divers doing work like this but an law enforcement teams doing this kinda of work because at least you know there probably is any one in there and it's been checked out.

  18. I got to ask why do you put tape over name & model of Sonar just curious been meaning to ask while watching last few videos also you guys do amazing job
