On this episode of Adventures with Purpose, we head to Detroit Lake, Oregon to recover Tom’s prized jet boat sunk 53′ underwater.

Crazy… RIGHT?

So how did the boat sink?

Tom tells us that the jet boat stalled out and another boat passed by, creating a big wake, and within 10 seconds, Toma and the others were swimming before the boat sank.

Originally, the boat was over 121′ deep when the water in the lake was up earlier this summer.

It took us 3 attempts to find the boat over the course of 4 months.

The Good News…

The water in the lake dropped over 60′ and third times a charm.

We succeeded in pulling the sunken boat out of the lake, floating it back to the boat ramp.

What’s our next underwater treasure hunting adventure going to find?

  1. Jared I had to tell this has been my absolute favorite video to date. I came across some of your videos and got hooked. You, Doug and the rest of the guys are for real God Sent Angels to help all of these families answers. I grew up in a time when it was all about jet boats and fast prop boats. The Picaforks, Youngbloods, Chargers, Hydro's, I loved them ALL. I was a plus that my uncle Ray sold these types of boats and campers. We grew up at the lake and loved it. Seeing this boat brings back SO many wonderful memories and God Bless you for saving it for this man and his family. I will be sharing yours videos as well as the other guys who do this too and will definitely be checking out any merchandise you sell. God bless and keep you all safe. ❤️ Joyce Guinn

  2. My friends sunk a boat cuz they forgot to put the plug in…one of them got caught in the weeds and drown.. Rip dewy your are missed ❤

  3. That was a fun episode! I am a fairly new viewer, so it's fun to see the older episodes and compare in terms of how much you have learned about using the sonar, how your mission has developed, etc.

  4. Things like this should be paid services that you offer. This is not for a purpose in my eyes. If you own a boat of that value then you should have the cash to get it out. Donations are to help families look for the lost . Look for cars that have been dumped so to clean up the environment.

  5. Detroit used go be a little town on the Santiam river. When the dam was built, the town was relocated. This area is a river bed in the Cascade mountain range, thus the steep drop off. During droughts, you can see the old foundations

  6. Having recovered sunk boats here with S&R, yes you really can pull the drains and pull them on plane, they'll drain out and float just have someone put plug in when it floats. Quickly… great job guys
