The search for Frank and Mary Oliva (missing person cold case documentary) could be over when this search takes AWP to Wilber Nebraska in hopes of solving the mysterious disappearance from July 28, 1971 when neighbors saw the couple come home between 8:00 and 9:00 that evening, just as it was getting dark, only to leave a few minutes later with Mary wearing nothing more than her housecoat.

The Olivas have never been heard from again.

Mary suffered from heart problems, high blood pressure and memory problems at the time of her disappearance, and she was also reportedly depressed.

She had dental surgery days before her disappearance, required medication for her heart condition, pain medication for the dental surgery, both of which she left behind.

Authorities and Frank Jr. (Frank and Mary’s only living child at the time) believe the Olivas died by suicide together.

The theory is that Frank Sr. drove their car into a water-filled sandpit because he felt he was unable to take care of Mary any longer.

He was depressed over Mary’s health and had said repeatedly that he would not put his wife in a nursing home.

Investigators searched nearby sandpits but didn’t come up with any evidence.

This video documents our search in Wilber, Nebraska for Frank and Mary Oliva.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT THE CASE
Their daughter-in-law, Shirley, came by after she found out they hadn’t been seen for a week and their newspapers and milk deliveries had been piling up.

The front door was closed but unlocked, nothing appeared to be out of place at their house, and Mary had left behind two bottles of medicine and her black purse, which she always carried with her.

Only their beige 1958 Chevrolet 210 with the license plate number 225-910 was missing.

Frank was born in Czechoslovakia. He moved to the United States at the age of seventeen and became a mason, carpenter and farmer.

Mary is a Nebraska native.

The Olivas moved to Wilber in 1957; many Czech immigrants lived in the town and they held a Czech Festival very year.

After his retirement, Frank continued to take odd jobs in the area. Mary appeared to be happy in Wilber and she enjoyed working in her garden and playing bingo on weekends.

Mary’s son by her first marriage died in 1959, and in 1960 the couple’s daughter died of polio. Only one child, their son Frank Jr., remained. Mary’s health was declining by 1973 and Shirley, Frank Jr.’s wife, came over frequently to help out around the house.

  1. You guys are awesome!! Id LOVE to follow you on a case, I can play secretary, this is amazing! I must order a magnet to see what I find on the lake I frequent.

  2. So great you did shmuch an older case. Do you have any connections with anyone who has equipment to look into the ground ? Big range metal detector?

  3. Amazing team ♥️
Maybe one day would be great to see the campers sign written with the AMP signature as the trailers.
    🥰

  4. You do a great job looking for there loved ones it must upset you some times your wife's must worry about you sometime s sorry but who's that great big 🐶 he is very sweet

  5. Do you know how deep can Ground Penetrating Radar can detect an anomaly ? If someone could try that and it worked at least maybe the family could have an answer. God Bless these folks and you all for what you do.

  6. How horrid or to still not know. But with your hard work and efforts to rule everything out. Now all it needs is an archaeological ground radar to ping thAt there is something there. Wishing the family all the best and how wonderful you guys give up so much to aid others is having questions answered, and if only to reduce some outcome potentials.

    All the best

  7. i see AWP is ready to become a "Netflix" series.. and that would be a series that really makes sense.

That's not the nonsense that is normally shown there. and Netflix don't need to cut and edit the videos,

because AWP can do that much better. 👍🏻 And i mean this serious..

  8. The dudes from the oak island tv show made a big ground penetrating radar. Everyone needs to start contacting them for help. They love a hopeless case so maybe this will appeal to them. They are actually likely to find something with it this time tho

  9. Would it not be possible to bring in a geophysics group to search the pit area? These guys have alot of reach around the world and im sure they'd be able to find some good folks willing to help survey the area, run scans or even excavate the area, couple diggers wouldn't need much time to dig down

  10. You could try a lidar machine in the sandpit. It might be able to find the car if it is cover with sand. I hope I spelt the name of the machine right. But it is ground penetrating and crime scene people use them.

  11. So sorry they were not found! JErod and Doug are the absolute best and camera guys, producer, your are gifts from God. Thank you to your families for understanding what this means to families of very old cases!

  12. Some Archeologists have ground piercing sonar and other ground penetrating equipment. That could be a way to find this lovely couple.

  13. I would suggest ground penetrating RADAR. it has the ability to penetrate to 100 feet given the soil conditions. As this was backfilled from a sand pit, the soil would probalby allow deep penetration

  14. I wish you had access to a ground penetraiting equip…sorry for my spelling.. love watching you both work these cold cases and I am learning so much. You are angels and I wish you much love and safe travels.
