Australian Soldiers and US Marines Intense Military Combat Training

Exercise Southern Jackaroo – Members of the Australian Army, U.S. Marines and members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force performed synchronized combat arms training, a platoon-level live fire and urban warfare training at Shoalwater Bay, Queensland, Australia.

Exercise Southern Jackaroo allowed the Australian Army to train realistically side by side with one another and help to discover friction points, how to fix them, and apply those solutions to size and effect on the battle field during Marine Rotational Force – Darwin (MRF-D).

  1. The Australians are using the EF88, not the F88. The E in EF88 being enhanced. According to the Army website, it's recently been added to the 1st Battalion RAR, but that was in 2016 so it might have hit some other Battalions as well.

  2. This may be a really dumb question but, do corpsman go with the marines on these training exercises? Also do they go with them on jungle warfare training and things like that? Because I know that corpsman are expected to know just as much about combat as a marine is.

  3. It's so dumb that the DI M4s/M16s are still being issued when the M27 IAR(HK416) should be the new standard issue rifle. Just pop off the M4/M16 upper receivers and put on the M27 upper receivers on the colt/FN M4/M16 lower receivers to be more combat effective with increased reliability in firefights. DIGS are terrible on full auto.
