A-10 Thunderbolts and C-17 Globemasters and approximately 130 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division participate in the Joint Forcible Entry Exercise or JFE 14B over Keno Airfield on the Nevada Test & Training Range and return later that afternoon, December 6th, 2014. JFE is a US Air Force Weapons School large scale air mobility exercise in which participants plan and execute a complex air-land operation in a simulated contested battlefield. JFE exercises participants ability to synchronize aircraft movements from geographically-separated bases, command large formations of dissimilar aircraft in high threat airspace, and tactically deliver and recover combat forces via air drops and combat landings on an unimproved landing strip. Brotha d massive bomber formation of d WW II was because of d scale of d war. With the entire Europe under NAZI occupation, the allies had to come up with a plan to achieve air superiority.
The NAZI fought back but with dwindling airmen among their ranks, it wz clear d days of d 3rd Reich were numbered. Quoting Guerring 'When I saw d Americans in d sky I knew we had lost the war.'
To cap it up, on D-Day a formidable 11,000 fighters & bombers descended on France and headed towards Berlin.
We have not had war on such a gruesome scale recently n justifiably.
