The Largest Aircraft in the U.S. Air Force • C-5M Super Galaxy – Everything Law and Order Blog

The Lockheed C-5 Galaxy is a large military transport aircraft originally designed and built by Lockheed, and now maintained and upgraded by its successor, Lockheed Martin. It provides the United States Air Force (USAF) with a heavy intercontinental-range strategic airlift capability, one that can carry outsized and oversized loads, including all air-certifiable cargo. The Galaxy has many similarities to its smaller Lockheed C-141 Starlifter predecessor, and the later Boeing C-17 Globemaster III. The C-5 is among the largest military aircraft in the world.

  1. Got to see one of these unloading UN gear in 1980 at what is now the Harare airport just after the transition of power from the Smith government to Abel Muzorewa – it is a spectacular piece of gear!

  2. Lived near Travis Air Force base growing up. They use to fly over our house daily, incredibly powerful.. could always feel them from the ground

  3. Drove by Fort Campbell
And I believe we saw a C-5M super galaxy flying a training mission. It was circling, flying around in a low level pattern, and basically joy riding to the untrained eye. Lol
It was HUGE, and truly an honor to see our military might on display. I used to work right next to runway at Lambert St Louis airport in the mid 90's Had the privilege to see and hear many military jets take off and land. F15's , F18's, c-17, I believe either a globemaster or galaxy, air force one when Bush Sr visited, and some truly awesome sites. Hindsight, I wish I would have taken pics. Fighter jets would be mocked up, taken on runway, and take off in anodized coatings. They would take off, hit afterburners, and literally disappeared straight vertical.
Not an expert on which jets and models, but knew what some were. Thank you to our great military service men and women.
    God Bless America

  4. This plane a massive and can carry 3 attacg helicopter and it only got 4 turbine engines, those gotta be some super powerful turbines to pull that much weight imagine 6 danm

  5. This machine can level a city(200 mile radius)in less than a half hour.the u.s military is the most feared nation on this planet.i served this country proudly.1979-1985.

  6. Did they finish getting the M mod on all the air craft? Been about 6 years since I got out and they were in the process of doing it when I got in. I remember talking about it with some of the guys in Travis. (I worked on the C-5B and the 2 C-5C models we had but we didn't have the Ms where I was, mostly Dover handled them

  7. It's interesting seeing them push the apache with some people pushing on the rocket pods. They must be super sturdy.

  8. Американские самолёты внешне и по техническим решениям, по сравнению с Советскими выглядят внешне весьма хлипко.

  9. My 4 yo son and I were lucky enough to get space a on a C-5. Cost, like 3$ each, for the bagged lunch we got, which was way better than commercial airline food. The seats were huge and it felt so safe. My son was insanely excited that there was a huge helicopter in the hold, we saw it climbing the stairs on the way in. That's really the way to travel.

  10. I feel this HUGE aircraft is more cool than those fighter jet!
Really love it when it about to takeoff 🛫😍

  11. I live right next door to McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey we did not have c5 there but they were a hundred miles down the road at Dover they would fly over our house all the time and break some of my mom's glass ornaments we got so much trouble cuz you thought it was us
