This third edition of the Africa HealthTech Summit taking place in the Kigali Convention Center, is organized by Africa CDC and Smart Africa and will unite ministers of health and ICT, national public health institutes, regulators, leading tech innovators, healthcare professionals, development partners, investors, and academics. Together, they will explore how emerging technologies can be harnessed to build resilience and improve health systems and individual well-being across African communities. 

The Africa HealthTech Summit Official Opening Ceremony will feature a Welcome Address by Hon. Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, Minister of Health Rwanda, a Keynote Address by H.E. Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director General of Africa CDC, and Opening Remarks by Lacina Koné, CEO of Smart Africa.

Under the theme, ‘Innovating for Community Health, Unlocking the Power of AI,’ the summit will focus on the potential of AI, Cloud, Internet of Things, robotics, drones, and blockchain technologies to tackle Africa’s most pressing health challenges. Key sessions will address strategies and solutions for strengthening health infrastructure, enhancing disease prevention and surveillance, improving supply chain efficiency, expanding access to diagnostics and care, building health-worker capacity, and driving progress toward universal health coverage across the continent. 

The summit will delve into critical topics such as connected diagnostics and Africa’s integrated disease surveillance, aiming to strengthen early detection and response to health threats across the continent. It will also explore the transformative role of artificial intelligence in improving healthcare delivery and decision-making, as well as innovations in digitized primary care that are enhancing access to quality health services for underserved communities. Furthermore, the summit will spotlight initiatives like the Africa Digital Health Index and Healthconnekt Africa, which are driving the continent toward better health data governance and more efficient healthcare systems, ultimately fostering progress toward universal health coverage.
