Amazon has dropped its latest line of Fire TV models, delivering a series that excels past the models you might normally be used to running into. The company seems to be looking to push into the higher-end section of the market, applying a little pressure to names like Samsung and LG.

Just in time for the holidays, the new Amazon Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series offers a smart TV experience that is similar to something like the Samsung Frame series. It features a QLED Mini-LED display that delivers up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness and up to 1,344 dimming zones.

It offers support for Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Dolby Atmos (2.1), Wi-FI 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA) protocol with Dual Audio (*coming via a future update), and more. You can achieve up to a 144Hz refresh rate using gaming mode and its “Intelligent Picture” technology works to automatically enhance picture quality by analyzing the content in real-time.

Like any of the Fire TV line of products, it supports Amazon Alexa built-in, which allows you to quickly access all of your favorite content and settings using your voice. Minimizing interaction with the menus and buttons and taking you straight to the content you are looking for (ie, “search YouTube for latest movie trailers”).

Then there is where it starts to deliver a Samsung Frame-like experience, through its Fire TV Ambient Experience. This allows the TV to display various artwork when it isn’t in use. Allowing you to turn it into a digital canvas for your wall instead of just having a black screen. Amazon partnered with AI Art to deliver a collection of over 2,000 images to choose from.

To take things further, its Ambient Experience also supports motion-interactive animations. Allowing the TV to display things like a pool of Koi fish that respond to movement in front of the TV. Causing the fish to suddenly spread out and swim around as if you got too close to them.

The new Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series is available from 55″ to 85″ and ranges from $819.99 to $2,099.99 MSRP. Already available for purchase, the TVs were launched just in time for next week’s Black Friday event, where you might be able to see a price drop if it goes on sale. A perfect gift for yourself or your loved ones.
