EXPO NEWS | DAY 2: DSD grows US operations – Everything Law and Order Blog

Drive System Design (DSD) is currently commissioning its new US facility in Farmington Hills, Michigan, which will serve as its new headquarters, reported Robert Hoffman, head of business development. The facility features high-speed motor dynos and high-power drive unit test rigs — capabilities in high demand from customers in the region. During the auto industry’s pause on electrification, DSD expanded its expertise in off-highway and defense propulsion systems.

Hoffman explained, “Our growth is driven by two main factors: better alignment with our UK operation and meeting the US market’s need for more heavy-duty, high-power work.”

The multimillion-dollar facility is about three times larger than DSD’s previous location, and one of its key features is a test rig that mirrors a similar one in the UK.

Commissioning the new facility is a gradual process, with progress being made project by project.

Reflecting on DSD’s participation at the show, Hoffman said, “It’s a great opportunity to gauge the industry’s status and reconnect with contacts. It’s also interesting to see what other suppliers have to offer, which could enhance our own solutions. We’ve had some promising conversations with potential customers, which are equally valuable.”

DSD are exhibiting at Booth 12026.
