Indore: IITI DRISHTI CPS Foundation, the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Indore, signed an agreement with the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) to foster innovation, research, and development in cyber-physical systems (CPS) and defence technologies.
The technology innovation hub of IIT-I will help in the development of field-ready prototypes addressing the Indian Army’s operational challenges and in the establishment of collaborative programs for start-ups, incubation centres, and Centres of Excellence in defence technology.
This collaboration aims to transform academic and military problem definitions into deployable solutions by leveraging IIT’s expertise in system modelling, simulation, and visualisation.
Lt Gen K H Gawas, Commandant, MCTE, said, “This MoU symbolises the convergence of academic innovation and operational expertise, a synergy critical for addressing the challenges of modern warfare. Together with DRISHTI, we will transition projects from concepts to deployable solutions, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation in defence technology.”
As part of the memorandum of understanding (MoU), IITI DRISHTI CPS Foundation and MCTE will collaborate on joint research initiatives to elevate Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects to higher Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs), organise training programs, workshops, and skilling initiatives to enhance capabilities, and work on areas such as system simulation, modelling, hardware-software integration, and digitalisation.
Professor Bhupesh Kumar Lad, project director, DRISHTI CPS Foundation, said, “The partnership with MCTE provides a platform to apply advanced cyber-physical systems research to critical national challenges, enriching outcomes and fostering technological innovation for national security.”
The technology innovation hub of IIT-I said the institute has become the single point of contact for MCTE to interact with start-ups and external entities in the development of critical solutions for the Indian Army in the sphere of technology. The institute will also assist students of MCTE in developing prototypes into products and commercialising innovations.
