HAMMOND – North Oaks Medical Center’s Neurosciences team has announced the use of new robotic and imaging technologies to enhance neurosurgical spinal care.
The introduction of Globus Medical’s Excelsius3D™ imaging and ExcelsiusGPS® robotic navigation system offers many patient benefits: shorter surgical times, smaller incisions, increased precision, less radiation exposure, shorter hospital stays, quicker healing and a speedier return to daily activities, according to a North Oaks press release.
Dr. Edward “EJ” Burkhardt, a North Oaks neurosurgeon and robotic surgery specialist, said, “With robotic technology, we’re increasing accuracy for placement of spinal implants like screws and rods, enhancing success rates and reducing risk for complications.”
Reagan Johnson, vice president of the neurosciences service line at North Oaks, added, “We are dedicated to providing the highest quality care to our patients and are excited about the opportunities that robotics will bring to our Neurosciences service line.”
