Southridge Tech Middle School has been recognized for its focus on educational innovation through teaching, learning and preparing students for successful career outcomes. Because of these achievements, the school has been redesignated as a Microsoft Showcase School for the 2024-25 school year — marking the third time and second year straight.
“This designation as a Microsoft Showcase School is a significant achievement because it reflects the hard work and commitment of our entire staff to integrate technology in meaningful ways that enhance the student-learning experience,” said Southridge Tech Middle School Principal Amber Knight. “We are proud to carry on the traditions of Southridge Tech, where innovation and student success go hand-in-hand. This is a recognition of the collaboration between our teachers, students and community — and it drives us to continue excelling.”
Southridge Tech Middle School first received this designation in 2018 and once more in 2023. Being designated as a Microsoft Showcase School demonstrates a commitment to technology and expanding student access to more digital platforms which provide an improved learning experience. The middle school will receive a Showcase badge, an educator community team and an invitation to the Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert and Showcase School Welcome.
Microsoft Innovative Educator experts assist school staff and ensure success throughout the campus by providing technological advancement, instructional support, planning lessons and onsite professional development opportunities to school staff.
The Fontana Unified School District middle school began implementing Microsoft programs and technologies in 2018. Every class — regardless of subject — has benefited from Microsoft resources. Teachers were given access to technology, helping them increase student collaboration, critical thinking and creativity in the classroom.
This recognition also led to the expansion of the on-campus afterschool robotics program and esports team as well. Knight said that the school plans to create partnerships with local technology companies and programs that will further increase student access to programs like these that offer real-world applications.
Knight said that Southridge Tech Middle School will also expand equity programs like Girls Who Code, which provides female students with career opportunities in coding and technology.
Microsoft Showcase Schools also have access to Global Training Partners and communicate with other school leaders by following the Microsoft Education Transformation Framework. The framework guides kindergarten through grade 12 educators on developing new teaching strategies.
“Southridge Tech’s third designation as a Microsoft Showcase School is truly remarkable and is a testament to the incredible educators, staff and administrators who strive to make these achievements possible,” said Fontana Unified School District Superintendent Miki R. Inbody. “It is invaluable to receive cutting-edge practices and up-to-date insights from a global network of schools and experts, and we are so thankful to be part of the movement to ensure students are prepared for an ever-evolving future.”
