In an era where digital learning is increasingly essential, Tahlequah Public Schools is committed to delivering top-tier technological resources for students and staff. We are proud of the strides our district has made to enhance both our infrastructure and user experience across every campus.
Our technology team maintains a robust network that includes around 50 network switches, 350 access points, 50 printers, and over 300 security cameras. We manage both primary and secondary server environments, ensuring seamless operation for 700 Windows machines, 3500 Chromebooks, 700 iPads, and 300 IP phones. Our team also oversees connectivity for intercom systems and climate control, a task that underscores our commitment to a safe, efficient learning environment.
One of the cornerstones of our program is providing students with devices from kindergarten through graduation. Kindergarten and first-grade students receive iPads to build foundational digital skills, while second- through 12th-grade students use Chromebooks. New Chromebooks are assigned in the first year of middle and high school, with reissued devices passed on to younger grades. From ninth grade onward, students can take devices home, which is a valuable tool for continued learning. To add value, TPS offers a protection plan enabling graduating seniors to keep their Chromebooks.
Our team recently completed the technology setup for the Greenwood addition, equipping classrooms with interactive TVs, computers, intercoms, phones, and access points. We are excited about this expansion, which will offer students cutting-edge resources in an engaging, tech-enabled environment. The technology team also spent last summer configuring old devices and installing new ones, upgrading infrastructure with 25 GB speeds, and completing a deployment of all new copier machines and printers.
The technology department’s staff is composed of Curtis McCullough, installation technician; Jason Rini, helpdesk technician; Sam Mitchell and Junior Jones, student tech assistants; and Chuck Pack, Candice Jefferson, and Jessica Morrison, as our district technology coaches. Their combined expertise and dedication ensure TPS remains at the forefront of educational technology.
This year, we are focusing on enhancing wireless security, performance, and availability districtwide. Our priority is not just to meet, but to exceed expectations in providing a reliable, secure, and effective technological experience for students and staff. By doing so, we are equipping our students with the tools and skills they need to thrive in the digital world.
