A 12-year-old girl was found dead under a bridge in Houston after she snuck out of her family home on June 17. Texas authorities said Jocelyn Nungaray ran into two men, who were out drinking, at a nearby 7/11 gas station when they asked her for directions. Nungaray was then lured to a bridge by the men. Jocelyn snuck out of her family’s apartment at 10 p.m. before encountering Franklin Pena and Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel. Court records indicate that Martinez attacked Jocelyn and Pena claimed he tried to intervene. Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis Nungaray, is seeking justice for her daughter, describing her as goofy and loving, while emphasizing the personal significance of the case beyond its high-profile nature as both suspects are undocumented immigrants.

Suprised the criminals got in trouble
The mother should be charged with neglect! You know your daughter repeatedly sneaks out and you do nothing to stop it? She even says there are monsters out there but did nothing to stop her daughter. This is infuriating! Poor daughter didn't stand a chance in this world.

If I snuck out at night when I was 12 there would have been a huge scene at my home. Parents need to realise the world is unsafe and be a little bit strict. Better to be a moderately strict parent rather than watching your child get hurt.

At 12 years old to not be scared wandering around the streets at night and looking so comfortable it looks like she has done this many times before! It's so dangerous!

This is why we should not hide these stories from our kids! My step mom always made us paranoid! And yes I still snuck out and hitchhiked and got into some dangerous situations however we always went with a friend and we told others plate numbers. We have to inform kids not tell them just NO because they will do it anyway. Inform and educate. Give our youth the tools to stay as safe as possible in this horrible world!
