Fifteen-year-old Brianna Higgins was shot in cold blood at an apartment complex in Olathe, Kansas last month. A 17-year-old boy was taken into custody earlier this week and charged with her murder. Police have released few details about the killing and the boy’s name is not being released because he is a juvenile. Law&Crime’s Angenette Levy talks with retired NYPD cold case sergeant Joe Giacalone about the case in this episode of Crime Fix — a daily show that delves into the biggest stories in crime.

17 years old? Hold his parents accountable too. If you're under 18 your parents are responsible for you. Hall them in too.
justice for brianna❤️🤞🏽she had a whole life ahead of her & it was robbed!
We need new laws obviously
another kid dead because of american gun laws
So sad condolences to her family’. & friends! Wtf is this world coming too
Why the boy had a gun? I'm sick and tired of people having so easy access to guns, this is the root cause of many crimes.
Commonsense is literally not an option for most of these young juveniles nowadays
Isnt there an amendment or something that legalizes child gunfights
I mean come on, i thought ThIS wUz aMerrRicA
Gen Z is getting dumber abd crueler
Teen?
You know what that means
Hi Sarge and A.L 💙
Let me guess, she said 'no'?
I am seeing way too many teenager to teenager crimes
I am 57 and my 2 older brothers & I had access to guns. My father, a WW2 veteran, taught us never to point a gun at anything you did not intend to shoot. We also had hunter's safety in middle school, which also taught respect for guns. Parents apparently aren't locking their guns up & sure aren't teaching any respect the weapon or life.
cold case detectives have an extremely difficult job they dont sleep right ever !
Terrible.
Betcha he's brown
Thoughts for the family and parents. So sad but unfortunately this is what is happening
He was charged to 2nd degree murder… Then they arrest the murderer then start to protect the underage culprits! & Only one gets changed!
Oooooo{opo 9.b.9
Terrible the way the teens are out their killing , their so full of hatred and rage! Unreal how real ! Thank you for the story.🇨🇦

Donald Duck is here to tell us what’s going on with this case
6:44 It's amazing that a former cop is admitting that the police need to rely on the public to tell them who did the crime. I don't think this detective meant to admit it, but he accidentally did.
Here's a reminder for those of you who think American police are competent at their jobs: police only solve a little over 4 in 10 homicides, and of the ones they "solve," most are "solved" by the police because someone from the public tells them police exactly who committed the crime. Cops aren't out there solving murder cases, they're only making arrests because the public solved it for them.
And here's a sobering thought: murder cases are the highest percentage of crimes solved by cops, and in most cases the cops have nothing to do with figuring out who did it, it's a member of the public who tells them who did it .
American police don't really do much of anything to solve crimes, because they aren't capable of it. Add in the fact that the Supreme Court has ruled that cops are in no way responsible to protect citizens, and the fact that cops hardly solve any crimes at all makes logical sense when you understand the fact that American cops aren't hired because they're intelligent, they're hired because they aren't.
Our legislature has kept loosening gun laws for years now. It's pretty much inevitable that innocent people will be hurt. My heart goes out to her loved ones. It's such a tragic loss.
KC does not give out info -that's not new. There is very little transparency.
NYC detective, fuhgedaboutit!
What a beautiful young girl 😢❤ such a tragedy for the family! My thoughts & prayers go out to the parents and all the family! So sorry for your loss! Rip beautiful 😢😢
I don’t like Angenettes style of interview her tone sounds angry and she interrupts the guests.
This doesn’t occur in other countries. Access to guns doesn’t result in anything good.
