Marissa Meyer, 40, is facing a felony charge after a school resource officer allegedly recovered a handgun from her backpack, which officials say was unzipped, making the gun accessible to children. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber examines the case, why Meyer allegedly brought the gun to school, and how security personnel found out about the weapon with Chad Ayers, a former sheriff’s deputy and founder of ProActive Response Group.

Simple Mistake???
My A** !!!
The irresponsibility is astounding!. It's breathtaking.
To forget about the whereabouts of your loaded hand gun is incredible!
She seems to be the only one who cares about our kids protection
This pov is extremely refreshing and his knowledge is eye opening.
I thought we were arming teachers
She should just move to Tennessee, considering that’s legal* now…
*most districts have independently stated they will not allow this.
Theres always the rat , the boot licker looking to get praise for ratting her out. What a useless friend.
If competent and trained staff and teachers have these weapons, psychos will have pushback. Criminals love "no g*n zones." Because we've seen how little the cops do in active sh**ter situations.
Here's another police comment about the expected "higher standards" from police & teachers, while similar examples of LEOs carelessness leaving live weapons in bathrooms, etc, BUT NO charges. BS, can't be doing double standards!
I'm curious if the outcome would have been different if she went to the SRO herself and told him it was an accident and handed it over.
Shameful
Playing devils advocate here.
What if…….
She used that firearm to stop an active shooter?
How would that have played out?
Well isn't this exactly what trumpy and GQP want, teachers armed and willing to kill. Wow, who would have thought guns in a classroom were a bad idea???🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐
They are trying to make this legal in Tennessee now
at least she's not boinking the students, shocked
How is having a gun not safer then not having one? She is not defenseless if a kid tries to shoot her.
Studies show armed teachers’s students get better grades and always do their homework.
Glad you brought the person in the studio!
*There ARE a lot of people….
So many cases of randy students hitting on teachers . None of them messing with this one .
I dont see an issue here
This is on Trump’s wish list.
Lemme guess she forgot like those yt people in turks and caicos
“Like a law enforcement you are held in a higher standard” false
Home schooling is looking better and better.
I bet they would have been thankful that teacher was armed if there was an active shooter! The school officers are not to be relied upon! You're on your own!
As a teacher, I’m just curious. I wonder why, when the teacher realized she accidentally had the gun in her bag, why didn’t she excuse herself and take her bag back out to the car? That would have removed the threat and kept her out of trouble.
Females
"All females are better shots than males for some reason" wtf is wrong with this guy?
this is the future republicans want
Guns are fine in schools as long as the staff have them. We used to teach gun safety in schools.
Passing a law for Student carry,
Coming to a school near you, oh what fun, all ages😂😂😂
Pay attention who in mockingbird media spits out a BS narrative !
Every teacher should carry !!! I mean the mental illness being taught in public schools these days it’s warranted !! FYI Indoctrination is NOT Education!!
Is that a crime?
I thought people wanted teachers armed?
I'm Australian. Forgive my ignorance.
I thought this was what people wanted?
I know the subject here is a staffer who negligently, recklessly, and accidentally possessed a firearm on school property so I'm going a little off subject but the subject of arming teachers was brought up so I want to address that.
The question isn't "are they there for that or are they there to teach?" the question is "do teachers possess less rights to self defense than any other citizen?" and obviously the answer is a simple "No." The hypothetical scenario mentioned around 5:00 is not unique to teachers. Any human being in possession of a firearm, police officers included, could allow a student unauthorized access to a firearm if they recklessly leave it unattended. But no one is seriously suggesting we disarm officers in schools. Officers have policies and procedures in place that emphasize strictly maintaining positive control of your weapon AT ALL TIMES. The issue is therefore not that the person in possession of a firearm is a teacher and not a police officer for example, but that teachers are more likely to recklessly utilize, maintain control of, etc their weapons. So why not have policies in place that specifically require if a teacher is going to be armed, they must go through a battery of vetting and/or training?
While there are certainly plenty of teachers I wouldn't want armed, there are absolutely exceptions. And a wholesale violation of second amendment rights doesn't seem like a wise solution to me. The PE teacher who has anger issues, sure. The art teacher who is forgetful and always losing stuff, sure. The office worked who conceal carries every day of their life while not at work and has for 10 years though? Is the solution to disarm the guy who clearly has the prerequisite demonstrable experience and training necessary to defend themselves, and potentially others? Who does that help? Not him, and certainly not anyone around him should an active shooter arise while he's disarmed.
She should be armed, but it should be secured on her.
I thought people were calling for teachers needing to be armed? Where are those people at now?
😂 it's like a self defense case that violates human right
From what I understand the states are proposing willing teachers who desire to undergo training to carry on their person, often concealed so no one knows who is armed and who is not. Would the guy in yellow please let us know which states are proposing letting teachers to randomly bring guns in backpacks. If you are going to lay that out at least back it up.
Why would any teacher not bring a gun to a public school?
As a Republican and proud NRA member, I say this PATRIOT was using her rights under Our Blessed Second Amendment to protect herself against those second graders.
She has the right to carry a gun. So what?
Not guilty
She reminds me when I first moved to US and put a bottle of wine in the work fridge so it will be chilled for a party I was going to right after work… Didn't even think about it..
My daughter is in second grade, I’d rather have a teacher with a gun than another uvalde situation.
That librarian isn't her friend. If she wanted to help, tell her to go put it in your car while you watched her students.
Welll at least she wasnt fukin the students, its like a daily thing you hear about nowdays….
