Destiny Rhoades, 24, is accused of leaving her daughter Octavia with her 16-year-old boyfriend, who then allegedly abused her. Christopher Gonzalez faces murder charges and will be tried as an adult. Prosecutors charged Rhoades with child neglect. My heart breaks for this woman. Her grief is worn on her face so honestly. I pray for her to have the strength to go forward in life without her lil beauty.

What a tragic story. I feel so terrible for the family, and couldn’t help but cry watching this video. I signed the petition for Octavia’s law, and hopefully we see this become a widespread law in the future! If you see something, say something! No child deserves this ever. May justice be served❤

More and more of this going on. We need to report any suspicion of abuse in neighbors or family members. I know for a fact these beautiful babies dying have grandparents aunts and uncles that are not reporting the abuse or investigating. Honestly it's partially your fault if you're not telling or calling DCFS or authorities on suspicion of any abuse with any family members or neighbors. Where are the grandparents? where were the aunts and uncles? of these children that are dying of abuse? Just sating
Sounds like all the roommates who were trying to cover for him need to get charged. This is disgusting.
That's the agenda here for this production, to charge people randomly for not reporting things. Ridiculous. Not everyone wants to get involved. Sometimes people are afraid of retaliation. So no, they shouldn't be charged for not reporting anything.

What state is this? I know the age of consent is 16 in some states.
And some have caveats like a maximum age difference.
But I certainly don’t think they allow 8 years apart with that stipulation.
It’s more for something like an 18 year old dating a 16 year old (a senior in high school dating a sophomore,) which is quite common.

Octavia's Law is a MUST. We can't leave it up to "mandated reporters" anymore
We need Octavia's law in every state. It should been a law long ago. If you know someone has a warrant and you don't let authorities in your house and they're in there, you get charged… You should definitely be charged if you see or know or even suspect a child is being abused and you don't report it

I’d love to shed some light on the atrocity, unfortunately yes I said atrocity that is organ donation….😭😢
We were family friends with this one family growing up. We use to see them all the time. Then with time we slowly stopped seeing them. It wasn’t until my mom told me that one of their foster children was life flighted to the children’s hospital did I know why. My mom called and reported them to CPS multiple times. Even called our own case worker we use to have (I’m adopted). They didn’t do anything till the girl was in a coma in the hospital weighing less than 25 lbs at 5 yes old.
To Mrs Alvarez and all of her family-my thoughts and love to all of you as you grieve all that you have lost. I hope this law passes and saves many children in the future. I really wish I had magic words of encouragement but I just wanted you to know I am thinking about your family and embracing you in healing thoughts.
Its possible but I could be wrong but this grandmother would of known this was going on behind closed doors with them, she is the mother after all. she seems like she shares abit of the guilt for not saying something sooner,but that's jmo
