Tennessee teacher Eliza Fletcher was kidnapped and murdered while jogging in Memphis in September 2022. Her body was discovered three days later behind a vacant home after an extensive search. Authorities zeroed in on Cleotha Abston when detectives found his DNA on a pair of sandals near the abduction site. Abston’s trial date is scheduled for February 2025. Fletcher was running on the University of Memphis campus when police said she was forced into a vehicle after a struggle. Abston was indicted on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and tampering with evidence, to which he pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors announced their intention to seek the death penalty against Abston, who was also charged with raping a woman in September 2021, about a year before Fletcher’s killing.

I'm from Memphis Tennessee. This was a horrific case. Imo with social media exposure on true crime videos I don't believe he could ho anywhere in Tennessee or surrounding areas that haven't heard about this case.
