She should have no jail time. She probably saved many women from rape or death.
She invited Todd in, that’s different than a burglar. That does not mean I feel she was in the right.

This was the chance for the judge to get this right. For women, for justice, for Brittany … you can stand your ground for material things and not do a day in jail but if you stand your ground for your personal body and dignity you get sentenced and a criminal record… make it make sense … wtf

OMG this second case with this child saddens me so deeply being treated worse then a mongrel dog. He lived in absolute hell. How does this happen no other family member either knew or didn’t come forward. Finally a just sentence. You go judge. Bravo judge. How many cases are out there no one talking or looking into. Only one with behavioral issues were the two slugs jailed. I hit on my iPhone in error while at doctors office and hung up while talking to doctor. Police called me right immediately and asked why I hung up.
Jailing Brittany is a travesty of justice if there ever was. In her situation and if I had the ways and means damned straight he’d may have gotten the same. Another judge suffering from a lobotomy evidently
If our legal system punished rapists, paedophiles, chikd abusers and any violet crime all justly then perhaps this rapist would still be alive. May well be incarcerated, but alive. Also life sentences with some being paroled, is such a ridiculous concept.
Don't all folks charged in the same crime turn against each other? The jail before trial forces that.
Sooo… In Alabama a person can't shoot a kidnapper during a kidnapping & rape, 2 save anothers life? I guess only femals. I don't even want 2 drive through that S hole; but I'm not a rapist.

Concerning Brittany Smith: what an embarassing and shocking miscarriage of justice! From a female judge, at that!! What kind of a prescedent is that? Do they still live in the Middke Ages?!
Concerning the song: the truly mean thing is that they were handcuffed and couldn't make the fun gestures along with the song 😂😅 – still remember my niece and other kiddos dancing along to the song in mini-disco on Mallorca every day 😂 and me, the embarassing "fun" aunt enthusuastically doing the gestures in the audience! It's the best part 😂😅!

There is not a woman in this world who wants their kids raised by a man even uncle.especially if she is a recovery addict. Chances are..she was abused before that moment she pulled the trigger and/or lost her kids. When I spent 100 days in jail for my dumb crime…every single woman in there I met had been in there from abuse that caused them to do drugs.

There was no evidence of rape. There is evidence that she was beaten. She allowed Todd to stay as a guest in her home. While at a local store buying cigarettes, Brittany told the shop clerk about the alleged rape and wrote Todd Smith's name on a piece of paper, telling the clerk if she was found dead, he had done it. Afterwards she returned home where Todd was and was later shot. Brittany is a meth user. Besides the killing, she set fire to a mobile home two years later and was convicted of arson.
I’m from Alabama. I went through a divorce from an abusive husband who had jail time for hitting me but it was me who was thrown out of the house until the divorce was settled 4 years later
The fact that Stand Your Ground was not accepted as reasonable defense is asinine. I did look up the rape stats for Alabama. 321,500 rapes estimated per year with 32% being reported. That speaks volumes to me that women in Alabama are not reporting these crimes. When they hear a situation like this, why would they trust the system??
I would Do the same thing as Her!
