New Mexico prosecutors want Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the former armorer on the set of the movie “Rust,” to testify against Alec Baldwin during his upcoming manslaughter trial. Investigators say Baldwin fired a gun containing live ammunition during practice for a scene, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber sits down with Lisa Torraco, the attorney for a third production member who took a plea deal, to talk about the pros and cons of Gutierrez-Reed getting on the stand.

  1. I feel for Alec Baldwin , he is so much a victim of that horrible event. I feel for him and his family. I can’t imagine what he’s been through , but I think the truth will prevail in his trial and he will finally be vindicated.

  2. Let’s say you were part of a twisted cult. How impressive could it be if you point blank murdered someone and was able to escape conviction. That would make you bulletproof yea? The cult cares nothing about people. Behind closed does it would be high fives everywhere

  3. He has money, she doesn't. Unfortunately, that weighs in his favor. Justice is blind, but money is heavier than fairness. That arrogant person (Alec) should also be held cccountable, because he is.

  4. Alec Baldwin killed a young woman and therefore should go to jail. He pointed the weapon at her and pulled the trigger. He should do time and be treated like the rest of us would… what makes him so special that he should get away with murder?

  5. bALDWIN SHOULD'VE EXCEPTED FULL RESPONIBILITY AND SHE SOULDN'T EVEN BEI JAIL. BALDWIN MIGHT HAVE SKATED HAD EXCEPTED FULL RESONSIBILTY AND TESTIFIED FOR THE ARMOER AND DEFENDED HER. BUT HE DIDN'T AND HE'S GOING TI JAIL. HE SHOT THE GUN THAT KILLED THAT YOUNG WOMEN, NOBODY ELSE. IF SHES GUILTY SO IS BALDWIN

  6. at the end of the day it was her JOB, whoever hired her should also be in trouble for neglect or at LEAST publicly shamed for allowing this- you cant just hire random people for super important jobs

  7. I try and try to imagine myself pointing a working firearm at anyone without knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is harmless.
    It's reckless at best

  8. I heard some producers and directors said that on other movies sets that Baldwin did check his gun for safety. So why wouldn't he check it on this movie set is it because he was a head of this movie. And we all knew when he pulled the hammer back that he said he didn't pull the trigger. It's because as we all know he already Pulled the trigger back and when he released the hammer the gun went off. That is the only way this gun would fire and drop the hammer the way he did. Because on this gun the hammer will not release if the trigger wasn't already pulled the way he said it happened..

  9. I know calling the gun a prop weapon is the proper way to describe it. I just feel as if a gun still has the ability to fire, it is not a prop, it is a weapon and has the same capability of a weapon. It should also be treated like a normal weapon by whoever handles it, regardless if you are an actor.

  10. There is no fair justice to be levied against Alec without Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was literally thrown under the bus by Alec and by Sarah Zachry. ⚖

  11. She walked around and bragged that she was trained by the best, her dad YET she said that she did the best she could. I call BS!!
If she was trained by the best, she would've acted professional and maintained control over all her inventory. Guns would've been kept safe when not in use. Real ammunition and blanks would've been separated, not thrown together.
Its seems as if she didn't pay attention to her father when he was teaching her about the trade. She just liked to brag about her dad for attention and clout. Hannah was hired because they were trying to make Rust cheaply plus the movie would get clout because of Thell Reed's daughter being the armorer.
Alec is another story. He KNOWS how important gun safety is. He has been in many movies involving firearms. He also knows that he is supposed to go to gun safety training for any movie he is involved in because the firearms are being used in specific ways and they need to be as safe as possible. The fact that he refused to go to more training just proves how arrogant he is. He actually failed to follow basic gun safety when he pointed the gun at another human being.
Alec is trash and has been for years. Amazing actor but trash human being. Since he left that disgusting voicemail for daughter oh so many years ago.
I hope they find him guilty

  12. I would tell the state to kiss my @$$. They can’t make here and they have already burnt all of their leverage when they charged her and as if that wasn’t enough pushed for the max when the jury found her guilty. If anyone owes anyone else it would be the state owing her, that’s what I would tell them you want my testimony, that ship sailed when you brought me up on charges. Here’s my message to the state, $hit in one hand and want in the other, see which fills up quicker.

  13. When you’re young and don’t even realize what damage you’ve caused because you want to be cool, is so sad. Working in this environment with seemingly no impunity just got you prison time and now you’re being ostracized! Welcome to realty girl.

  14. She was using pot the night before the practice run through and the fact she had not pushed the issue about safety enough makes her responsible for the safety and security of those participant's on the set. Yes, she should be compelled to testify for the prosecution regarding the atmosphere on the set and whom was giving directions and how much of a hurry they set-up process was moving along at that point. Baldwin wanted to make a low budget western that would rake in millions. Instead he cut corners by not hiring an experienced armour and implementing strict firearms handling and training while on the set. That is his fault. He should be found guilty and given more than 18 months to serve. Experience will be his instructor.

  15. Who are they to demand. Alec is not a king and he is guilty💯 we had enough of his tantrums blame shifting childish nonsense entitlement. Alec is guilty of pointing the gun pulling the trigger snd not double checking the barrel. It does not matter who checks a gun before you. It’s the gun holders responsibility to use proper safety protocols. ‼️

  16. I'm not sure I agree with her that use immunity in this case is legal in NM. With her appeal still pending, forcing her to testify still arguably violates her 5th Amendment rights.

  17. Why is Alex on trial here? He's an actor. the fault lies completely with the armourer for leaving the gun unattended you can't expect him to check the gun and know even what to look for
