  1. You clearly don't know the story. An au pair does live with the family. Juliana said she had already left the house with the child to go somewhere but she forgot the child's lunch box so she went back to the house to pick it up and saw a suspicious car outside. It was a car she hadn't seen before and she just felt uneasy. That's what happened.

  2. My smart neighbor hired a nanny that was 65 years old. Al the neighbor kids knew her and she was the best nanny I ever saw! Kids grew up and when they went to college the nanny retired.

  3. I was looking on a group where people left bad reviews about Au Pairs. The amount of young and pretty Au Pairs that slept with the fathers is just insane. Yes, proof was provided on each of the posts otherwise the posts were deleted. Even video posted of the Au Pair telling kids she was going to be their new mommy. There was an Au Pair that put on the wife’s clothes and jewelry during the day. Video of Au Pairs claiming the kids were theirs. Video and texts of husband’s standing up for Au Pairs when the wives would say the Au Pair was getting way too comfortable disrespecting them, saying worrying things, and getting too touchy with the husbands.
Never in my life would I bring any type of woman to my home that wasn’t grandmotherly. Just nope. I’m so glad I was able to be a SAHM.

This whole case with the Au Pair is just insane.

  4. We have received some update since this time. The au pair was charged because it was her who fired the fatal shot. She claims she was taking the child out on a trip to the zoo, but forgot the packed lunch so went back to the house. She saw an unfamiliar car in the drive, called the wife ( this is confirmed she called her first) and then called the husband who came home from work. The wife and the man were both naked and the man still had the knife in his hand. The husband shot him but did not kill him and so he advised the au pair to go get the other gun from the safe in the house which she did and it was her shot that shot him dead.
This still doesn't add up. Why would he get her to go get another gun and why did his shots miss seeing as he is skilled with gun's. He did injure him but not kill him. So there were no signs of breakin. The wife's tablet was linked to a BDSM site but they are still not sure if it was genuinely her on this site and her who invited this man to the home. People are saying it is unbelievable , but people can have weird sexual kinks which others don't know about. So if she let him in why did he stab her? Was it the first time they had met and he was just a nutter or if they knew each other why would he suddenly do that? There is so much that doesn't add up until we get to the trial and see the evidence.
The aupair and the husband were definately in a relationship after the murder, but did not attempt to hide it. Her underwear was strewn all over the house apparently and there is a photo of them together. Surely someone with his job would try to cover this up if it was somehow linked? There is speculation also that it was an open relationship that the Banfield's both had lovers but that has not been verified to date.
We will see if this is brought to trial. The evidence will tell us what happened, though apparently they ( the au pair and the husband) threw away both their phones which is a big red flag if true.

  5. It’s possible that both are true. The husband could have killed the wife before he left the house that morning. The man could have stopped by (possibly to work around the property) & discovered the dead wife at the time the Au pair discovered him near the wife’s body & assuming that he killed the wife the Au pair panicked ran to get her gun & shot him.

  6. Much ado about the wording of the 911 call, completely disregarding the fact that the caller is Brazilian, so English wouldn’t be their native tongue. Completely reasonable to forget certain words and substitute with other which may be less appropriate, but which carry the point across: someone is hurt!

  7. I read somewhere that the au pair saw the man entering the house and called the husband who, by then, was at work. This case is really mysterious and charging the au pair seems to me to be an easy way to solve the case. There are too many questions: where did the au pair find a gun to shoot the guy? Did she even know how to shoot? Why didn't the husband, an FBI trained husband shoot the guy himself? Why did the husband told 911 he was the one to shoot? Who was the male victim to the female victim (i find difficult to believe police couldn't find that yet)? Why is the husband refusing to talk to the police? What could he have to hide? For the moment the au pair seems to be the escape goat in this bizarre case.

  8. Anna, I remember a case you covered, at least I think you did, where the husband paid some poor sap, who was down and out, money to go and kill his wife. The husband told this killer exactly when and where to confront the wife, where to enter the home, what time she’d be home, etc. So he sets this idiot up and then the husband on a call to 911, telling the operator that “I found a burglar in my home killing my wife so I shot him.” The husband thinks his problem is solved. Now both the wife and the wife’s killer are both dead and the husband thinks he set up the perfect murder…..just one thing…he forgot about forensics, cell towers, dna, phone records…people are so evil and dumb 🤦🏼‍♀️
Anyway, as I was listening to you and Emily discuss the au pair incident , I immediately flashed on to the true crime story above.
Thank you as always for a great program !

  9. Excuse me. I know brazilian people. They can be extremely naive, amost stupid. I'm not saying she's innocent, but it all seems very strange, unless she's not a typical brazilian girl, which I doubt. There's more to that. I also believe there could've been an affair, but it was probably not her who started it. Again, she might be from a different breed of brazilian, I'd be surprised, though.

  10. dont hire hot nannies from 3rd world countries.they come here to find a husband ,get a green card and have a nice life.how many actors got divorced cause of the nanny.ethan hawk.shvanzeneger arnold and many more, but ussualy they dont kill the spouse.thank god.

  11. The dad was sleeping with the aupair and needed a way to be with her so they came up with this plan . Why she calling the dad when she see a car and not the mom! Yeah these two planned this.. they got caught up and didn’t plan this well

  12. I guess Juliana had an affair with Joseph and he slept in the house without Ms. Banfield knowing.. and the morning, she found out he was there and started to argue with them, Joseph got a knife and stabbed. At the same time, juliana got mr banfield gun and shot him several times. In order to protect juliana who also had an affair with Juliana, Mr banfield told the police he was the one who shot Joseph.
