Newly released bodycam footage shows investigators in Michigan interviewing a mother after she claims a man tried to pull her daughter into a thrift store bathroom. “My daughter was apparently attempted to be pulled into a bathroom by a young man here,” the woman told a Sandusky police officer. The man — later identified as 19-year-old Andrew Jewell — told police he did nothing wrong. Jewell faces several charges including attempted kidnapping.

The chilling video captures the moments after the alleged incident at the thrift store. The distraught mother can be seen explaining to officers that a man grabbed her young daughter by the arm and tried dragging her into the restroom against her will. She identifies 19-year-old Andrew Jewell as the suspect. When questioned, Jewell denies any wrongdoing and claims it was a misunderstanding. However, based on the mother’s account and surveillance footage, police arrested Jewell on charges of attempted kidnapping, child enticement, and assault.

  1. Case update: As per his plea deal, 20-year-old Andrew Jewell was sentenced last week to a maximum of 15 years in prison for his actions last August at Sandusky’s Hope Thrift Store.

Jewell was originally charged with attempted unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping/child enticement and assault/battery after trying to drag an 8-year-old girl into the bathroom of the local Hope Thrift Store in late August 2023.

About 10 months and several court proceedings later, Jewell pleaded guilty to a felony count of kidnapping-child enticement, with his plea deal dropping two other charges.

He was sentenced to a minimum of 70 months (almost six years) in prison, with credit for 292 days served, having spent about nine and a half months in the Sanilac County Jail during his court case.

  2. Imagine doing something like that and then trying to lie about your actions in the most nonsensical way possible. It's confusing and guilt-tripping at the same time.

  3. The way he just told her to “leave” like just disregard what just happened instead of reassuring her that he is going to take care of it and make sure to doesn’t happen breaks my heart unasked for trauma for the rest of her life

  4. "the more mentally unstable they are, the more likely they will re offend"
well i have no sympathy for these predators, but I also have a difficult understanding of their psychology also.

  5. if you think about it, him saying "i didn't do nothing" techincally means he did something if you think about it, meaning he openly admitted to the cop that he did all that

  6. What a horrible man Andrew is no one will ever forgive him I don’t feel sorry for him not one bit cause he pulled the little girl into his bathroom and that is frightening for the girl I hope the girl is okay and safe I felt sorry for her but Andrew is going to reap what he sow for his actions like honestly what was he thinking!
